Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto admitted he was really upset and was quick to apologize after making a dreadful error in Saturday’s 4-2 defeat to Girona.

The visitors were leading 2-1 when Roberto played the ball back towards his own goal and gifted Girona an equaliser.

Michel’s side then went on to win the game 4-2 and move above Barcelona in the table with just four games left to play.

Here’s what Roberto said afterwards

“I think until the 60th or 65th minute we were superior. I think we were playing well but after the second goal the game ran away from us.

“I’m furious because it was my mistake so I’m really upset, I apologize to the team, because the team was working hard and playing brilliantly and we didn’t deserve this result and we are very angry.

“We had things under control, we were dominating possession. In the second half we had chances, we could have put the game to bed.

After it went to 2-2, Girona looked more comfortable. We gave what we could but couldn’t get it back. We are hurting, we feel it’s been unjust.”

Saturday’s result also hands Real Madrid the title and comes at a time when Barcelona are said to be close to completing a contract renewal for Roberto.
