Another trophy and in some style too

Barcelona Femeni crushed Real Sociedad 8-0 on Saturday in the final of the Copa de la Reina at Real Zaragoza’s La Romareda stadium.

The victory means the team remain on course to win a first ever quadruple this season as the league title has been secured, the Spanish Super Cup was claimed in January and the Champions League final against Lyon is to come on May 25.

For now though, this incredible team can celebrate winning the Copa de la Reina in brilliant style with another hatful of goals. They did it in front of 25,617 fans too - a record for a final in the tournament.

Ona Batlle opened the scoring after just five minutes after some lovely build-up play before Salma Paralleulo made it 2-0 on 13 minutes with a nice header.

Barca were playing some wonderful stuff and it wasn’t long before they were completely out of sight. Caroline Graham Hansen scored twice in the space of seven minutes to make it 4-0.

Another goal from Batlle just after the half-hour mark saw Barca go in 5-0 up at the break and it’s not unfair to say they could have led by a larger margin at the halfway stage.

The goals continue to flow after half-time. Mariona Caldentey got in on the act with a brace, while Claudia Pina also made it onto the scoresheet as Barca ran out 8-0 winners.

That’s three trophies in the bag already and Barca now heading into next week’s Champions League final in seriously good shape.

What. A. Team.
