The purpose of this article is to examine the personal, academic, and professional experiences of five Japanese university students who did short-term academic internships in three southeast Asian nations. Since students in Japan often associate international opportunities with inner-circle English-speaking countries (e.g. the United States of America or the United Kingdom), this article highlights the perceived benefits of choosing Southeast Asia as an educational destination. In limited published studies, researchers have revealed that Japanese students may gravitate towards Southeast Asia for multilingual language learning opportunities, lower perceived discrimination, and reduced financial costs. This article provides additional insight into the discerned advantages and disadvantages. Data for this qualitative exploratory study include weekly written reflections from students who were in southeast Asian countries from late 2018 to early 2019, followed by a focus group and individual questionnaires in the months following the participants’ return to Japan.  Based on thematic analysis of self-reporting, results suggest that the participants found value in their experiences due to the (a) proximity and costs involved, (b) comfort with using a non-native variety of English, and (c) development of intercultural competences and soft skills.  More specifically, participants felt that their experiences were less financially burdensome on parents, compared to similar experiences in inner-circle destinations. Also, participants reported feeling comfortable using English as a lingua franca, despite communicating in lower-context environments. This, in turn, contributed to the development of their adaptation, negotiation, and communicative skills. If higher education stakeholders and recruiters can better promote the educational experiences of Japanese university students in Southeast Asia, such as those featured in this article, then it is possible that access and participation may increase in the future.

Introduction: Many of the problems in Indian healthcare settings resulting in mistrust, violence, allegations and litigations against doctors can be solved by effective communication between doctors and patients or their relatives. Interaction of the students as a community physician needs training in communication skills. Traditionally, internships are viewed as a supervised work practice and experiential learning where student have the opportunity to apply the previously learnt theories from school in real-life situations. Several studies have been written on the benefits of internship programs and explored the perspective of the interns, schools and different organizations as well. Nowadays, an internship abroad is more seen from the students’ point-of-view as an element of „Erasmus lifestyle experience” than gaining useful, practical work experience in the hotel industry.
There any many factors and stakeholders involved that form the experience of the students who participate in internship programs. Internships in any hotel establishments provide a real sense of working and the Erasmus students have to face different adversities such as culture shock, poor remuneration, longer working hours, lack of rapport with the other workers and other sociocultural adaptation difficulties. Thus, these experiences can determine the future career goals of the interns.
The aim of this paper is to explore the impact of different stakeholders on the experience of the students. Implications for the hospitality industry and educational institutions and suggestions for future studies are offered.

Remarkably, exposures to hospitality workplaces through internships have been found to rather dissuade students from envisaging hospitality career. However, knowledge of this phenomenon remains inconclusive. Consequently, this study explored the effect of internship work experience on undergraduate students’ commitment and perception of the nature of hospitality work using before-and-after design. A convenience sample of 171 hospitality management students in a Ghanaian technical university completed paper- and-pencil questionnaires, and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The majority of the students indicated positive perceptions of hospitality employment and were accordingly willing to work in hospitality-related jobs after graduation. Contrary to the commonly held view, commitment, attitude, and perceptions of hospitality work do not undergo significant reconsiderations post-internships.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a milestone document in the history of human rights. Drafted by representatives with different legal and cultural backgrounds from all regions of the world, the Declaration was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948 (General Assembly resolution 217 A) as a common standard of achievements for all peoples and all nations. It sets out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected and it has been translated into over 500 languages.

This study explores the purposes, processes, costs, challenges, benefits and satisfaction of existing internship programs of a small sample of Cambodian private firms, the major providers of internship in Cambodia. Fourteen firms participated in this exploratory study, generating qualitative interview data of 17 firm representatives (responsible for the internship program) and 25 interns (in different occupations). Thematic analysis was conducted to clean, code and interpret the interview data and relevant secondary and documentary data.

Cancer is a sensitive topic that still causes a lot of suffering. When it comes to children, adults sometimes decide not to reveal the diagnosis or the prognosis, in order to protect the young patients. As far as caregivers are concerned, those who would like to openly communicate with children are hindered by a limiting legislation. Others are hindered by a lowering of empathy that prevents them from using proper communication skills. Nevertheless, not to explain the situation to pediatric patients would mean to give up on doctor-patient relationship, which may affect compliance, treatment result and public health system. In order to help caregivers and parents to announce the diagnosis and the prognosis to pediatric patients, we made a scientific literature review and created a semi-structured model of diagnosis announcement in four phases, and in case of terminal stage we added two more phases. As we have seen in a survey conducted in several Swiss hospitals, there is still a lack of written guidelines. This leaves an opening for research in the field of communication with pediatric patients and teaching programs development as well as for the intervention of psychologists.

Introduction: As we all know COVID-19 pandemic became a problem all over the world. Every country is trying to fight with this pandemic virus, due to which many countries announced complete lockdown in their country. Schools/ colleges help in developing social skills and awareness of students which is interrupted because of lockdown due to COVID-19. Not only studies are affected but it has also affected the industrial training of the students. Hospitality students must have good communication skills, social values, teamwork and many more qualities .which are affected due to pandemic which can’t be learned through
online classes. Many of the students were not able to attend online classes because of the poor network in their region, loss of focus and interest, some time does not get much space in their home for online studies due to more members in the family, sometimes they don’t have a system to excess online classes. Internships of Hospitality students were affected as their internship programmes were either reduced or cancelled due to this pandemic.
Objectives: The primary objective of this research is to find out the impact of this pandemic on education and internships of
hospitality students.
Methods: This research paper has derived conclusions based on the feedback of different hospitality colleges situated in Dehradun. The feedback was based on some questionnaires which were asked through an online survey. The feedback is collected on percentage bases which are then analyzed for getting results and conclusion.
Results: According to the results 97% of hospitality students agreed that their Internship programmes are badly affected due to this pandemic and they face various problems during online classes.73% of students disagreed when asked will they prefer online mode of education even post this Pandemic.75% students agreed that they got full support from their teachers during online classes.
Conclusion: Most of the students were facing various problems in their online classes, their internship programmes is effected, because of which their learning and skill development activities are effected but the good thing is that most of the student was getting full support from their teachers/colleges/ Universities and most of the students find the online mode of education as a better and useful tool for online studies during this pandemic. But still, most of the students prefer traditional (face to face) mode of education over the online mode of education.

Pour  pouvoir  se  faire  engager  dans  des  rédactions  aujourd’hui,  les  jeunes  journalistes gagneraient, de plus en plus, à mettre en avant des spécialisations fonctionnelles, notamment celles qui sont valorisables sur les  sites Internet et les réseaux sociaux de leurs médias  Une observation exploratoire, nous permet de constater que  le milieu professionnel fait souvent appel aux écoles de journalisme  pour  définir  des  profils  précis,  notamment  des  spécialistes  du  langage  vidéo  ou  des  réseaux  sociaux,  pour  des  propositions  d’emploi ou de stages.

Est-ce  à  dire  que  certaines  rédactions  délèguent  aux  écoles  le  pouvoir  de  sélectionner  à  l’interne  leurs  meilleurs  éléments  pour  un  poste  ou  un  stage  en  particulier ?  Dans  d’autres  cas,  les  rédactions  filtrent-elles elles-mêmes les candidats aux stages ? À partir de quels critères ? Ces pratiques, déjà anciennes mais rarement remises  en question, sont-elles renforcées aujourd’hui, dans une configuration économique où les rédactions engagent peu ? Cela reviendrait à faire du stage, non plus un espace d’apprentissage, mais un espace  de pré-embauche, de mise à l’épreuve de compétences considérées comme acquises.

Cet article se focalisera sur le moment tout particulier de l’insertion  professionnelle que constitue le  stage en rédaction,  le stage étant considéré comme un axe pertinent pour questionner les reconfigurations du secteur journalistique dans son ensemble.

In-plant training is one of the requirements for the award of the Degree in Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering of Maharashtra Institute of Technology. As such, students are required to write and submit reports at the end of their training.
This report is the record of the work I personally did and experience I gained during my in-plant training at Varroc Engineering Ltd. Plant- VII (valve) from 4th Jan to 16th May 2018.
It consists of six chapters which altogether explain the background of training, entail background information about Varroc Engineering Ltd., Manufacturing processes, Inspection and Testing, the hands-on activities which I took part in and about the project I did on tooling cost reduction by optimizing the design of bottom die holder.

This study explores the predictive utility of an emotional intelligence measurement that is based on the Role-Based Performance Scale (RBPS) measure of job performance. This inquiry aims to investigate whether the level of emotional intelligence score of each academic staff in the selected private higher educational institutions affects job performance. This research applied a quantitative method approach to cast the researchers’ net wider to include selected higher educational institutions to obtain as much data as possible. The results demonstrate a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and job performance of academic workers in private higher educational institutions. Therefore, these significant findings shed further light on the theoretical and practical utility of the construct of emotional intelligence and job performance, and have proven the fact that emotional intelligence is accountable for and could predict job performance. 

The hotel internship experience can be viewed as the pivotal point where hospitality students decide whether to stay or leave the industry. This paper aims at presenting hospitality students' satisfaction from internships and its impact on career intention. A survey of 172 students, both EU and Greeks, was conducted to investigate their internship satisfaction at 4 and 5 star hotels as a key determinant to career intention. The findings suggest that, the most important factors contributing to students' satisfaction were the real working conditions and the learning experience. All participants acknowledged long working hours, poor pay, and lack of coordination as key challenges, however they all identified their internships as a valuable way to link their studies with real life practice. This study proposes that student satisfaction in hospitality internship programs can have a direct positive effect to the graduates' career intention. It also suggests that educational institutions should maintain the practical/applied Journal of Tourism Research, Volume 25 43 elements of hospitality management programs in order to develop qualified, knowledgeable graduates.

In the brief essay that follows I will illustrate how international and community-engaged educational experiences offer important opportunities for intellectual inquiry centered on the juxtaposition between rights thinking and rights practice. I will illustrate the discussion with examples from a set of courses that continue students’ intellectual journeys relating to rights-thinking following 8-week summer internship experiences focusing on peace and social justice.

This exploratory case study reported the planning, implementation, and assessment of an international internship undertaken in a Taiwanese company by an American university student, Jean, who was operating independently abroad. The model required Jean to establish learning objectives, self-assess language use and learning strategies, and engage in critical reflection. Weekly oral journals and pre-post-language proficiency test results revealed substantial progress in Chinese linguistic skills and deeper professional knowledge.

As a result of globalisation, a significant proportion of companies operate across borders and in many cases, work communities are also organised from workers with diverse cultural backgrounds. Due to the intensive flow of services, goods and labour, and cultural differences, conflicts can arise, and these tensions can negatively affect people and organisations' well-being and performance. Nowadays, cultural knowledge and intercultural competencies are more appreciated and highly requested by most employers. The younger generations (Generation Z and Millennials) were born into cultural diversity and have broad mobility possibilities to deepen their intercultural competencies, but the older generations in Hungary had more limited mobility opportunities. Cultural intelligence (CQ), which is the ability to adapt to different intercultural interactions effectively, can be developed effortlessly by spending extended periods abroad. High CQ results in better interpersonal relationships and work performance in culturally diverse environments. Cultural intelligence is a widely researched field within the managerial studies, but most studies focus on international students, young business students and sojourners. Thus, our primary goal was to explore not just the adolescents and young professionals, but the middle-aged and seniors as well. This quantitative study aimed to explore Hungarian generations' cultural intelligence and find possible connections between cultural intelligence and overseas exposure/mobility program participation. To answer our research questions, we analysed the total and dimensional CQ scores of 329 Hungarian respondents and compared the results based on participation in different mobility programs, length and frequency of cultural exposure.

The primary objective of this study was to examine the factors affecting students' academic performance at undergraduate level. The research is conducted based on students of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura which is one of the state universities in Sri Lanka. The Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce is one of the largest faculties in the university system and enrolls about 5,000 internal undergraduate students. The faculty offers 12 special degree programs, more than 250 course units covering the range of Management and Accounting related disciplines (Prospectus USJP, 2017). The sample consisted 191 graduate students who were completed their degree program in the year 2016 and 2015 (Academic year 2011/12 and 2010/11). Correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were conducted as main analytical methods. The result of the correlation analysis showed that there was a positive correlation of past academic performance, proficiency in English, lecture attendance and time spent outside the university on academic performance and negative correlation between internship period and academic performance. The multiple regression analysis concluded that past academic performance, English proficiency, lecture attendance and time spent outside the university are significant factors when evaluating the academic performance. The study analyzed hypothesis test in order to determine whether there is a significant difference exist between intern students' and non-intern students' academic performance. The independent sample T-test was used to test the hypothesis and result found that there is no significant difference exists between interns' and no-interns' academic performance. Study concluded that better understanding of factors affects the performance of students in any given course is must in the process of improving students' academic performance.

A large number of British university programmes in tourism and hospitality feature an internship of some sort. This element is intended to provide a vocational dimension to what
can be a predominantly academic curriculum. Not only do internships provide familiarity with professional practice, they raise graduate labour-market value and, arguably, enhance the
individual’s maturity before returning to the final degree year. This paper uses research funded by the UK Centre for Professional Placement Learning, Centre of Excellence in
Teaching and Learning, into the experiences of students on 12 month internship away from
the UK.
