English text
All so merrily,
All so cheerily,
Foot it, maidens, through the May;
Music sounding,
Joy abounding,
All is pleasure, fair the day.
Youth is not the time for sorrow,
Though the clouds arise tomorrow,
Joy abounding,
Bliss surrounding,
Ever beautiful the May.
Rosy morning,
Happy dawning,
Hail to thee, the flower queen,
Some are wiser,
Many stronger,
But such beauty is not seen.
Fairest of the morning daughters,
Fair as rainbow on the waters,
O’er the roses,
Spring discloses
None like thee, O Flower Queen.
Shouting, singing,
Joy-bells ringing,
On the smooth and emerald green,
Youth and maidens,
Flower-laden,
Greet the morning and the queen.
Youth is aye the time for flowers;
Then improve the fleeting hours,
Joy abounding,
Bliss surrounding,
As we dance upon the green.
