ACL Guardians manage just one hit in loss

One game after scoring seven runs in the ninth inning, the ACL Guardians managed just one legitimate baserunner on Monday.

That hit belonged to 19-year-old Venezuelan catcher Jose Cedeno, who went 1-for-2 and scored the Guardians’ only run.

The run scored on an RBI groundout from 17-year-old Dominican shortstop prospect Welbyn Francisca. Francisca remains hitless through two games. Granted, it’s a small sample size.

Starting pitcher Eudry Alcantara allowed two runs on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts in three innings. Both runs came off a two-run home run in the first inning.

Long reliever Kendeglys Virguez gave up one run on two hits with three strikeouts and no walks in three innings. Both pitchers hit a batter and had a wild pitch.
