During the Worldwide Developers Conference 2021 (WWDC 2021), Apple announced new features for the iOS 15 mobile operating system, as well as new health and focus mode features for WatchOS 8. During the presentation, the company also announced new Apple TV features. TvOS 15 introduces SharePlay, the “Shared with You” feature, and other new features, including the option to play content via voice command.
In 2020, tvOS debuted “Home Vire” to control smart devices, as well as audio sharing and support for numerous video game controls.
tvOS 15 implements the features:
- Support for spatial audio with AirPods Pro and AirPods Max;
- HomePod mini can be used as a speaker for Apple TV and play content by voice commands;
- The “Shared with You” section in the app shows the content shared with the user;
- “What’s up, Siri” can be used to play content on TV;
- Lossless audio function (will be implemented by the end of the year).
Apple announced on the first day of WWDC 2021 that Siri could be used without an internet connection. Siri will now be able to perform a range of queries without an internet connection thanks to the operating system update. The digital assistant will process the audios on the local device, allowing the user to use the feature while not connected to the internet. According to Apple, the update will also make Siri speedier. However, without an internet connection, it will be impossible to do things like search the web. Users can, however, utilize Apple’s virtual assistant to perform rudimentary navigation tasks such as playing music, accessing apps, and setting timers.
The update is only available for iPhones and iPads with the A12 Bionic chip or higher. As a result, the feature will be accessible for the following devices: iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, 11 Pro Max, 11 Pro, 11, iPhone SE (second generation), iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, iPad Mini (fifth generation), iPad Air (third and fourth generation), and iPad Pro (fifth generation) (8th generation) You can see all of the news that happened on the first day of WWDC 2021 in the video below.
