The OP's legitimately great.
I never did finish the anime, but I've read the translations for all 18 or so of the light novels. C^3 was surprisingly engrossing for its template, so it's nice to see the series brought up again in some form. |

I watched the entire Anime I enjoyed it ending ticked me off because no real closure was given this was also the series that made me like Silver Link as a studio wonky animation in this aside.

The light novel is over now, though it was ongoing while the anime aired. I've read it but haven't watched the anime, and it kept itself all throughout in that weird line where there are several drawbacks in it, but there are also enough good things to keep you going and hoping it'll get rid of the bad stuff eventually.
It never outright ditches its mostly bad comedy or harem shenanigans, but the good parts start coming through more and more often, with some volumes I'd even say were overall good at the end. Haruaki himself never stops being a completely generic dude, but most of the cursed items are good characters, and even some villains are fine later on. First impressions are kind of bad for this series (and I'd guess the anime too) but it does improve later on, though maybe not enough for some people. The novels also have some pretty racy illustrations. Enough that it led me to thinking "this artist draws porn doesn't he" and then I found out he actually does. |

The opening SONG was great. It's still one of those good openings where you can sorta tell that it's covering up for a mediocre show. I don't know how to explain it.

Part of me didn't enjoy it, I thought it was mediocre, but the OP was very nice, it's great to listen to it again after a long time. The 2nd one was okay, but the background music takes the cake.
And A- for art? |

Shame there's no dub - especially since this is Funimation.

"Art", as in "Art Direction". Nick Creamer wrote that the show was visually interesting, sometimes disjointed. |

One of the best OPs ever, and I've been around a long time. That wink gets me every time.

I'm in the same boat. Enjoyed the series, but the ending left me flat. It's one of the many shows I've seen that I want a 2nd season for, and one of the many in that category that will never get a 2nd season. |

The List - 8 Dubious Anime Dub Opening Songs
anime
There once was a magical time in anime dub history where North American anime licensors dubbed over Japanese opening and ending songs. These eight songs represent the very worst the English anime song genre has to offer.
― Lynzee Loveridge is on a short hiatus, so this week we're reprinting a classic List. New columns will return next Saturday! There once was a magical time in anime dub history wher...
UQ Holder! GN 4
manga
UQ Holder finally finds its feet in this volume, demonstrating far more drama, fun, and creativity than ever before.
― I knew this manga was worth believing in. In spite of its lackluster early volumes, I knew Akamatsu had it in him to make a truly satisfying shounen manga, one that demonstrated all the passion and creativity that occasionally glimmered through in Negima. It's taken a while, but UQ H...

― The Arabian Nights' Entertainment. 1001 Nights. Whatever you call it, the collection of Middle and Far Eastern folklore collected around the 13th century in Persia (now Iran) has had impressive reach in all corne...
ALDNOAH.ZERO Blu-Ray 4
anime
ALDNOAH.ZERO tries just a little too hard to wrap everything up in a bow in these last six episodes, and while it works, it lacks any major impact.
― I very rarely say this, but in the case of Aldnoah.Zero, I firmly believe it: the show should have ended after episode twelve. While it would have been a depressing ending, it also would have made a point and kept its characters fairly interesting and r...
The X Button - Interview: Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness
anime
This week: Star Ocean producer Shuichi Kobayashi talks sequels, scandalous attire, and Valkyrie Profile! Plus Let it Die, Nier: Automata, and a dangerous new direction for games.

C³ BD+DVD
anime
C3 is a surprisingly entertaining take on some well-worn action-fanservice territory.
― Released five years ago now, C³ was one of Silver Link's earliest productions, before they were renowned for… well, making a whole lot of shows exactly like C³. The show falls in the timeless “action-fanservice adaptation themed around torture/bondage gear” subgenre, which has more recently featured the legitimate...

anime
Fans have clamored for a Phoenix Wright anime for years - the one we finally got left a little to be desired. Jacob Chapman explains what makes the game series so special... and why the anime might not stack up.

Review: The Empire of Corpses
anime
In select theaters now, The Empire of Corpses succeeds as a rip-roaring adventure story, even if its philosophical pretensions aren’t quite up to snuff.
― The easy, almost foolproof way of testing your appetite for The Empire of Corpses would be to ask: are you a fan of The League of Extraordinary Gentleman (the comics, not the film)? Does that kind of turn of the century steampunk aesthetic entice y...
