On April 1 Stratford Swimming Club held its annual club champs. There were 50 participants in the Easter morning event, with ages ranging from 6-17. It was fantastic to have so much support from family and friends, who cheered our swimmers along.

The club has great numbers coming through in all areas and competition was tight for the age group cups. Winners will be announced at the prize giving on April 17 at 7.30pm in the club rooms.

The following weekend a team of 23 swimmers attended the Whanganui Swim Champs. Four swimmers received medals for being overall place-getters in their age groups Eleanor Gilbert (first, under-9 girls), Lauree Collins (third, 10-11-year-old girls), Joshua Gilbert (first, 10-11-year-old boys) and Chris Johnson (first, 12-13-year-old boys).

In Australia this week we have Ryan Cooper and coach Clive Wheeler representing Stratford at the Australia Age Group Champs, Ryan is ranked fifth in the 200m backstroke.

On April 19 Stratford sends three swimmers to the division two national champs in Invercargill Brooke Millar, Bailee Drummond and Jordan Wood. We wish them the best of luck.
