Norway Supports UN Reform
08 December 2010 - The Norwegian Government renewed its long term commitment to UN reform today, by signing a new cooperation agreement to provide additional funds for the United Nations Country Coordination Fund. Around USD 6,6 million (NOK 40 million) will be provided over the period 2010-2011.

The new agreement further solidifies Norway’s continued investment in making the UN more coherent and effective at country level.

Norway's Permanent Representative, Ambassador Morten Wetland, and Sigrid Kaag, Director of the UN Development Programme's Partnerships Bureau, signed the agreement in New York.

The funding will support a more coherent and coordinated UN at country level. It will strengthen the UN's ability to prepare high quality, focused, and strategic planning documents. These will guide the UN's joint response to, and support for, national strategies and priorities.

Norway has provided support to DOCO (Development Operations Coordination Office) since 2003.
