Unicron's creator is an Antillan from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Bereaved when the Cybertronian race invaded his home planet of Antilla, the Antillan known only as "Unicron's creator" turned his rage and grief against the galaxy by transforming his world into the all-destroying Unicron.

When Onyx Prime and his Cybertronian army invaded Antilla, the scientist's family, including his daughter, was killed in the conflict. Ceremony Realizing that the conflict would only end in the extinction of their species, the scientist constructed a doomsday device that would destroy all life on Antilla, organic and mechanical alike, and transform what remained into the super-weapon Unicron. The scientist, however, lived on in infraspace at the heart of Unicron, and his will led the monster-planet to attack and consume each of Cybertron's colony worlds when Unicron was awakened millions of years later. Ceremony When Unicron gained a robot mode from his integration of the Titan Nemesis, his new form's visage was cast in the likeness of his creator. Stranger Eons

The Cybertronians had deduced that the scientist's own doomsday device could be used to slay Unicron. After the Talisman had disappeared into the black hole at the heart of Unicron, Optimus Prime followed it, emerging in infraspace, where he confronted the creator. Though Optimus tried to be diplomatic, the Antillan attacked with a vengeful fury. As this happened, Optimus's allies in the physical world managed to use the Enigma of Combination to psychically link the Prime with the Afterspark, giving him the courage he needed to stand up to the scientist until the Talisman rebooted and began destroying the landscape. When the creator nearly fell into oblivion, Optimus pulled him back from the brink, and convinced him to let go of his hatred, asking who he'd been before the Thirteen invaded his world. Unable to recall his own name, the creator instead told the Prime the name of his beloved daughter. As the Antillan began to regret his actions, Optimus pulled him into an embrace, encouraging to remember his loved ones and light the dark hour he'd created. Finally letting go of his hatred, the scientist allowed himself to die, his passing causing Unicron to collapse in on himself, ending his threat to the galaxy. Ceremony
