Razon gas is a handy substance. In its liquid form, it's denser than crude oil, and it only has a half life of a few hours before it reverts to its gaseous state. It's so useful that the Autobots keep a plentiful supply around, just in case.

The Decepticons' plundering of the Prudhoe Bay oil reservoir began creating seismic shifts so dramatic that Alaska and Russia were in danger of colliding, and the USA and USSR were ready to exchange nuclear weapons in a non-peaceful manner. Optimus Prime hit on the idea of pumping liquefied razon gas into the reservoir. Being denser than oil, it would end up being pumped into the Decepticon transporter and force the oil out, stabilizing the Earth's tectonic plates. Then the liquid would revert to razon gas and force the transporter to float to the surface of the Arctic ocean.

Somehow this plan worked, however the Decepticons had already scarpered by the time the Autobots boarded their transporter. When Continents Collide
