The government wouldn't lie to the people.

Ronald "Ron" Witwicky (born 1960) is one of six children of Herbert Witwicky and Clarice. He has four brothers and one sister; his eldest brother is named Ben. In 1979, the kids split the proceeds from their father's house. Ron named his son an actual real name.

Probably just compensating for his family's history of strangeness.

Ron Witwicky is the head of the neighborhood watch. Considering the fact that five giant robots milled around his backyard and he didn't even know it, he's probably not that good at the job.

He also never went to college, same as every Witwicky before him. So, of course, he has a house nicer than yours, an Austin Healey BJ8, a 2008 Prevost H3-45 and can afford a trip to Paris while sending his son to Princeton University.

Sure, Ron laughs now, but Sam will remember this and plot his revenge...

After learning that Sam got an A- on his family genealogy report, Ron took him to buy a car. He first teased Sam about the possibility of getting a Porsche, and then took him to Bolivia's Finest Quality Used Cars and Petting Zoo. Sam found an okay-looking Camaro which owner Bobby Bolivia offered to sell for five thousand dollars, even though he wasn't sure where the car came from. Bobby refused to go down to Ron's offer of four thousand and instead offered to show them a battered Volkswagen, but the car took rejection badly, slamming its door into the Volkswagen as Bobby was sitting in it, then tuning its radio to a high frequency and shattering the windows of every other car on the lot (but presumably not Ron's car). The spooked Bolivia immediately agreed to Ron's offer of four thousand. Later that day, Ron was tending the newly laid path when Sam left the house and the car emitted a large smoke cloud. Upon seeing this display, Judy called him cheap. "It's his first car, it's supposed to be like that," was Ron's defense.

Later that evening, Ron failed in his duties at head of the neighborhood watch when Sam's new car was stolen in the middle of the night. Sam gave his parents a wake up call, telling Ron to call the cops, then went to follow the car, ending up arrested when he followed it to a junkyard. The sheriff interrogating Sam believed he was on drugs, as Mojo's pain pills were found on his possession. Despite Ron's continued assertion that the pills were for their dog, the sheriff refused to believe him.

Head of the Neighborhood watch. Scary, isn't it?

Later, when the Autobots come searching for his great-grandfather's glasses, Ratchet knocked over a powerline, causing a blackout and mild tremor. Ron quickly ran to cover under the table (never spilling his wine glass) while Judy asked him how did he manage to get under there so quickly. He assumed the damage done to his back yard by Optimus Prime and the Autobots was caused by the "earthquake". Going to Sam's room, they found him sweaty and grimy.

Sam's parents express their pride towards their son for cleverly hiding a girl in his room. Just take a look outside the window.

When Judy asked if he was... stimulating himself, both Witwicky men were greatly embarrassed, and Ron affirmed that Judy was not allowed to talk about that with Sam. When Mikaela Banes came out of hiding, Ron tapped knuckles with his son in approval of her. Shortly afterward, Agent Simmons and Sector Seven came in and took the Witwickys and Mikaela into custody. Although Sam and Mikaela were rescued by the Autobots, Ron and Judy remained in custody.

After the destruction of Megatron and the Decepticons, Ron and Judy were interviewed for a news program about recent events. They feigned disbelief that there had been an "alien incursion", saying that the government wouldn't lie to its citizens. Transformers

You know, for a guy who never went to college, Ron sure has a bunch of really, really nice stuff.

As Sam was preparing for college, Ron was eager to see him go, as he was pleased to see Sam be the first Witwicky to go to college (also, he planned to turn his son's bedroom into a home theater). On the day of departure, Ron expressed his pride in his son for getting a scholarship to Princeton University, and a little hesitation about seeing him leave the nest. This was interrupted as Mojo was dominating their new dog Frankie right on the couch, which Ron promptly shooed away. Filthy beasts. Ron also told Sam he'd see a lot of that in college as well, as he had doubts Sam and Mikaela would be together forever. Never mind that they discovered an alien race together.

As Ron was packing for both Sam's departure and his and Judy's trip to Paris, Judy expressed sadness, which Ron told her to suck up. Judy reacted manically, saying she had no desire to with him now, which suited Ron just find. Hearing some noises coming from Sam's room, Ron went out back and demanded to know what all the racket was...at which point the entire kitchen came to life and began opening fire on the two Witwicky men. Ron and Sam scrambled for cover behind the fountain, and Sam called for Bumblebee's help. The little Autobot managed to eliminate the homicidal little machines, but also destroy Sam's room and part of the house in the process. Ron was more forgiving of Bumblebee's excess that Judy and Sam, mostly because he knew that government would pay for the repairs, considering it the start of their remodeling. Judy announced that they were also getting a hot tube and swimming pool as well.

Arriving at Princeton, Judy immediately took to the university, saying she felt smarter, practically from the smell. Ever the cheapskate, Ron declared that it smelled like Forty thousand dollars a year. They also met Sam's roommate Leo Spitz, but in the process, Judy purchased some brownies laced with marijuana. Ron was barely able to control his stoned wife, but they quickly left the campus.

As their son slowly started to go insane from AllSpark information and Optimus Prime died saving him from Megatron, an ignorant Ron and Judy and were enjoying lunch at an outdoor cafe in Paris. Ron was more concerned with a mime violating his personal space. Suddenly, comets began raining down on Paris. In their scramble to get back to their hotel room, Ron and Judy were captured by a Decepticon.

Taken to Egypt, Ron and Judy were used as bait for a trap by Rampage and Ravage, who demanded Sam turn over the Matrix of Leadership in exchange for the his parents. Ron told Sam to run, believing that the Decepticons would kill them anyway, but Sam was stalling for time to allow Bumblebee to get into a position to jump Rampage. Bumblebee quickly killed Rampage and de-spined Ravage, and Sam told him to take his parents to safety. Ron refused to leave Sam behind, saying that they were all going together, but Sam insisted and Judy also relented. However, Sam was killed by Megatron while attempting to resurrect Optimus, and Ron and Judy were on the scene to urge the medics on. Fortunately, something else revived Sam, who in turn revived Optimus. After Optimus Prime defeated the Fallen and destroyed the machine, Ron and Judy came and gave their son a proud hug. Ron and Judy Witwicky were present at the White House when Sam got a medal from President Barack Obama commending him for saving the world twice.

They decided to pay Sam a visit while he was looking for a job in Washington, D.C. Upon learning that his son did not yet get a job, Ron was very upset, commenting that sucked.

Later, Sam asked for the whereabouts of his girlfriend, Carly Spencer after a Decepticon attack on Washington, D.C. Judy admonished Sam for getting into an argument with her and causing her to leave, and Ron promptly gave an example of the devotion their son was supposed to give. This inspired Sam to go to Chicago to rescue Carly, and asked Ron and Judy to leave Washington, D.C. for their safety. Dark of the Moon

IDW movie comics

When his son became twelve, Ron presented him with the heirlooms of his ancestor Archibald Witwicky. Sam was not impressed with his great-great-grandfather's "junk" and was horrified to see newspaper clippings about his madness. Ron told off Sam for calling Archibald a madman, stating no one ever proved he had a mental illness and that his father told him he had just been traumatized during his voyages. Movie Prequel #3

Though having learned the truth of recent events and Sam's role in them, Ron and Judy were not happy that Bumblebee had decided to come and live with them, especially after the destruction the Autobots had caused to Ron's beloved yard. Ron said that Sam didn't owe the Autobots a thing, having already done his part in their war, and decreed that Bumblebee could stay for the summer, but after Sam went to college, the Autobot was out. He ended the argument by stating that both Sam and his car needed to grow up. However, later that night, Ron came into the garage, reporting that Sam had failed to show up for his rendezvous with Mikaeala, and that they should both try to find him. However, before Ron could get in, Bumblebee burst out of the garage, destroying the door in the process. Tales of the Fallen #1

  • Ronald was named after Orci's father-in-law.
