There will be other suns.

Solarbot (ソーラーボット Sōrābotto) is a mysterious emissary from an ancient civilization. Long ago, a divergent race of robotic beings evolved the ability to convert the energy of stars into Energon. For eons, these beings existed in the far reaches of the galaxy within distant suns, but as these suns began to die, Solarbot and his peers fled their homes. To better interact with them, Solarbot can take on the form of others, such as his primitive cousins, the Transformers.

After leaving his home reality aboard a personal spaceship, Solarbot crash-landed on the Earth's moon, where he encountered the evil Autobots Blaster and Rewind. Believing them to be allies, Solarbot mimicked Rewind's form to speak with the pair on better terms. But Blaster had little interest in Solarbot's story, and only feigned concern for his plight to gain passage in his ship towards the Earth. After reaching their destination, Blaster revealed his true nature by tracking down the heroic Sir Soundwave and attacking him while he was trying to repair Earth's ravaged electronics network. To stop him from interfering in the battle, Blaster stuffed Solarbot into his chest compartment, only to be surprised that he had gained an enormous boost of power in doing so. But Solarbot burned his way out of Blaster in due course, forcing the Autobot to retreat. He then joined up with Sir Soundwave, who more sincerely offered assistance to the little 'bot. Solar Requiem

After a confrontation against some enemy 'bots, during which he burst out of Sir Soundwave's chest dock, Solarbot asked the larger 'bot to link up with him, in order to access some of Soundwave's stored data. After finding the information he needed, Solarbot told Soundwave he was searching for a group of six 'bots with "organic implants" instead of embers. Sunrise

Solarbot found those he sought on the displaced Earth of the Classicsverse. He met with Small Foot in the dead of night, and opened up a telepathic communication with her, showing how his people faced a similar peril to the one which threatened Gobotron. Solarbot then vanished, leaving Small Foot to wonder if the encounter was merely a dream. Later, when Stepper managed to sneak up on the group and prepared to kill them all, Solarbot interfered, shielding the GoBots from the evil Autobots' fire, and giving them the opening necessary to overpower their adversary. Ravage parked Solarbot next to Steeljaw, so that Steeljaw could get a faster solar charge. Solarbot was not totally appreciative of being used in this way. It's likely Steeljaw wasn't too keen on it, either, as he had realized he had begun to melt from Solarbot's heat. Recordicons #18

Bludgeon would later observe Solarbot's battle against Blaster and Rewind, noting that Solarbot was one of the warriors who inherited the "Seven Lights". Cybertron Magna Convoy

Toys

Generation 2

An early proof card of the Generation 2 Go-Bots Firecracker, Gearhead, and Blowout toys features the blurb "FREE* Solarbot Transformer (see back for details)." The promotion might have been intended to be related to the Robot Points that have been featured on all Generation 2 toys' packaging, but were never actually used for anything. On the final cards, this same blurb area remains, but now reads "HIGH-SPEED RACING AXLES!"

At this time, no actual "back" of the proof card is known to exist, and what exactly this "Solarbot Transformer" was intended to be is unknown.
