Ocean Research Institute of California

The Ocean Research Institute of California is a location in the Super-God Masterforce portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

The Ocean Research Institute of California (カリフォルニア海洋研究所 California Kaikyō Kenkyūjo) is located on the coast of America. Its primary mission is the study of marine life, however it's run by Diver, who also happens to be an Autobot Pretender. It therefore often gets co-opted into the Autobots' war against the Decepticons.

When Hawk put out the call to the Pretenders that the Decepticons were attacking a city in Japan, Diver departed from the Institute to join the battle. Rise Up!! Pretenders

After Shūta, Cab and Minerva were given their Headmaster transtectors, Hawk sent them to the Institute to be trained by Diver. Though they believed they were there to relax and check out the dolphins, Diver put them through a series of practice scenarios. Later he was called away to deal with an underwater volcano. The Headmaster Juniors relaxed and watched television... until they saw that their Decepticon countparts were causing havoc in a city, and rushed off to stop them. Rage!! Little Devils with No Need for Rules Their training continued, and on their last day in America, they rescued a young man named Chris from the Decepticon Headmaster Juniors. Afterward, they enjoyed a moonlight barbecue at the Institute. Go, Goshooter - Showdown in the Wasteland A couple of times, when things were maybe a little too quiet, Hawk would contact Diver to see if anything was happening in the States. Baney Aquarium shipped a sick dolphin to the Institute for medical attention, however on the way the delivery driver had truck trouble and had to borrow a substitute. This substitute happened to be a Godmaster transtector, and the driver, Ginrai, found two Master-Braces in the glove compartment. A Hero Is Chosen - His Name Is Ginrai Lander arrived at the Institute to meet the new Godmaster, and the two Pretenders unsuccessfully attempted to persuade him to join the Autobots. Ginrai: God On of Rage!! After finding more Master-Braces in the glove compartment of his truck, Ginrai returned to the Institute and arranged to go to Japan to show them to Hawk. Sometime later, Ginrai had joined the Autobots and acquired a trailer, which he took to the Institute to show off to Lander and Diver. He also planned to go on television to try to coax out the other Godmasters. Eliminate the Godmaster Ginrai When the Decepticons took a group of children captive to try to draw out Ginrai, the Godmaster met with Diver and Lander at the Institute. Diver left to scout the island where the captives were being held, but was promptly captured himself. He was able to use his ultrasonic watch, the signal from which drove the dolphins at the Institute nuts. The rest of the Autobots, who had gathered at the Institute, were thereby clued in to Diver's predicament and set out to help. Heroism!! The Birth of Super Ginrai

Following the discovery of Lightfoot, the second Godmaster, the Autobots gathered at the Institute to discuss where to search next. They decided on the Rocky Mountains. An Enemy? The Third Godmaster, Ranger Much later, after most of the Godmasters had been found, Diver received a distress call from a damaged cruise liner, and alerted Ginrai. Appearance!! The Final Godmaster
