I'm now faster, stronger, and smarter than the 1984 version of me, who I am totally not!

Huffer is a perennial complainer, even now that he's been upgraded and partnered with the Mini-Con Caliburst. One would think being stronger, faster, and more intelligent than ever before would curb his attitude, but those folks don't know Huffer very well. At least the Decepticons now have a second reason for hating him; not only is he annoying, but he can also kick their skidplates.

Toys

Power Core Combiners

  • Huffer with Caliburst (Commander Class, 2010)
Part of the first wave of Power Core Combiners Commander Class figures, Huffer transforms into a long-nosed semi truck cab of undetermined, probably-made-up model. He also has a secondary "power up" mode, in which he forms a super robot torso; in this configuration he can use the drone-limbs from any 5-pack set to make a new super-robot. His chestplate has a flip-up Mini-Con Powerlinx peg that allows him to use any Mini-Con as chest armor, though the nominal choice is his pack-in partner Caliburst. Huffer lacks 5mm holes of any kind, instead wielding Caliburst via a Mini-Con Powerlinx peg. His hands will hold smaller pegs, such as Classics Rodimus's cannon, however.
The first release of Huffer featured a bright orange hood, a running change was quickly instated that switched the hood to the same yellow-orange color as the rest of his body. Both versions are pictured at right.
This mold was also used to make Crankcase and Assaultmaster.
During the period between December 26 2010 and January 31 2011, Hasbro ran their "Supercharge Your Holidays" promotion: for every $20 spent on Hasbro-branded product, customers could receive a free, random product from a list provided by Hasbro. Among the items on the list was "Transformers Combiners & Speed Stars Mini Vehicle". According to this discussion thread on Allspark.com, Huffer with Caliburst was one of the figures distributed.

  • Power Core Combiners Special Value Offer (Value Pack, 2011)
Huffer was also made available as part of a Walmart-exclusive Black Friday "Value Pack", combining a 5-pack team with a Commander 2-pack via packaging tape and a couple of stickers, for the whopping price of ten bucks, merely a third of what the two toys would normally cost.
So far, Huffer has been found attached to the Double Clutch/Rallybots and Stakeout/Protectobots sets.

Notes

  • At BotCon 2010 Hasbro referred to Huffer as "the only heritage character in Power Core Combiners", suggesting that they may view him as being the same character as Generation 1 Huffer (although in recent days Hasbro has been less than interested in distinguishing between continuity variants of its repeating characters so it's open for interpretation). His bio supports this notion, though with the vague continuity of Power Core Combiners, any actual connection lies within the realm of personal canon.
  • His torso mode head bears a striking resemblance to Generation 1 Menasor.
  • After you completed a search of Shockwave's laboratory in the Beast Hunters online game, Hunt the Beasts, Ratchet uploaded data to your computer about members of the Autobots, including Beast Hunters Huffer... who was mistakenly depicted using stock photography of this Huffer.
