After an evocation of his first poems, Césaire speaks of his return to Martinique as a teacher, then of his political commitment within the Communist Party. "At the rendezvous of the conquest" is devoted to Paris, from the 1930s to the 1950s, with the meeting of Léopold Sedar Senghor and Léon Gontran Damas.
