Vibhijain@piwikipedia

I need adminship to edit the interface and the logo which is not translated {I have a ready logo ready} Vibhijain 12:18, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I wanted to comment on this for attending stewards. You have already requested a temp. adminship on sa.wiki and made several other requests based on that temporary request. I really like your enthusiasm but you created your account less than 2 months ago, this is really not enough of a time to learn how things work, on top of which I see no edits on pi.wikipedia itself. I would recommend that you consider reaching out to the Indic community and exercise a little patience. Thanks. Theo10011 12:42, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
I have to request for adminship because I tried a lot to get the logo of the Pali Wikipedia changed but still after a lot of efforts, I was not able to get it by somebody. I would appreciate if you can tell me somebody who can get the logo changed and provide temporary adminship. Vibhijain 12:48, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
Hi, I understand pali wiki is not active at all. I have two concerns, one do you know how to change the logo to begin with, second would the pali wiki want your logo. As for who can help change the logo, I am sure you can ask a global sysop to help you with that request. Theo10011 12:52, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
I am not active on Pali Wikipedia, but I have discussed the logo with some reputed Indian users like Shijualex, i do not want adminship if you can get it changed by somebody. :) Vibhijain 12:55, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
I know Shiju. I am part of that community too, that's why I commented. Feel free to leave further comments of my talk page. Thanks. Theo10011 13:00, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
I requested Prince Kassad but he is also not able to do so. He said to contact a Bugzilla developer. Pleas help. Vibhijain 15:04, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
Comment It's not possible to change to logo on piwiki by local community/admins. According to InitialiseSettings.php $wgLogo piwiki uses the default logo /images/wiki-en.png . So you have to upload the logo at commons or local on piwiki and file a bug so that server admins can change the config.
Most logos aren't uploaded at local wiki, but on commons. So the standard location for a logo is commons:File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-pi.png. You should upload the new logo using this file name, request an commons admin to fully protected this file and request a server admin to add 'piwiki'=>'http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/91/Wikipedia-logo-v2-pi.png' to wgLogo config.Merlissimo 16:01, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

I had been a sysop temporary for 3 months, now my temporary adminship period is about to finish.I want to request for permanent adminship for hi wikibooks--Mayur (talkEmail) 16:37, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

please open a new request, as said Dfreg. I'll grant you temp for the period, until you get support for permanent. Matanya 13:22, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
As i said my last request was for permanent adminship not for 3 month trial period, i would have to add new request if i had requested for temporary admin right earlier.--Mayur (talkEmail) 13:27, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
I understood that, but since you've got temp, a new local request is needed to get the permanent right. If you prefer not to open a new local request, I'll be happy to grant you 1 year temp. What do you prefer? Matanya 13:34, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for being so humble to me, Plz close this request as "Notdone" as i don't want to play this temporary adminship game inspite of getting clear consensus. As there are no policies on meta regarding this i can't blame you or any stewards.Again thanks for your polite and humble reply--Mayur (talkEmail) 13:47, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Sky Harbor@tl.wikibooks

I was previously granted temporary adminship twice on the Tagalog Wikibooks: first when the project became active, and second just 1-2 years ago. The project is currently rife with copious levels of vandalism due to months, years even, of no maintenance after the project's permanent admin, Felipe Aira, became inactive. While I've been reverting edits for a while, I think the tools will better help me to clean up the project. --Sky Harbor (talk) 12:01, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

MauchoEagle@afwiki

I have a very modest edit count on this wiki but in my contributions, you can see that I know the language. It does seem that the wiki has been abandoned and I need admin tools to help mantain it. I am more active on enwiki I have not been on that wiki for very long but I was almost to tears when I saw the amount of admins that were active (less than five) and I would really like to contribute so the wiki can become better. I have read the policies there (just so you know) and would like to be an admin to make the wiki better. Thank you. MauchoEagle 23:22, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Also I am only asking for it temporarily until I can get the project better (6-8 months will do). MauchoEagle 23:23, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
Please open a discussion on a relevant forum; admin access cannot be assigned without local consensus. Also, since this wiki has local, active bureaucrats (af:User:RAM being active two days ago), please ask them. -- Mentifisto 23:31, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
This is the administrator nomination page for af.wiki - note that you only have 3 edits, so such a request would most likely not pass (depending on their need for administrators). Logan Talk Contributions 03:54, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

វ័ណថារិទ្ធ@kmwiktionary

Greetings from Khmer Wiktionary and other sister projects! I am one of the admin team in Khmer Wikipedia. Currently there is no admin in Khmer Wiktionary, plus every small number of regular and active contributing users. So I am requesting a sysop right to maintain the project and promote awareness among Cambodian users. Lately, I have been networking with other like-mined fellow Cambodians and doing some localization on Templates, Categories, and Help pages...etc. Per the local community approval, I got 5 voices supporting my request. Thank you! Let me know if you have any inquiries.--វ័ណថារិទ្ធ (Vantharith) 12:25, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

I see you got two opposes. I'm i right? Matanya 13:11, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
I think those are part of the template. Looking at the history I only see edits from the five supporters and the nominee. Someone who understands Khmer should verify that, though. Jafeluv 14:04, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

For the record: one vote is from an IP, 3 are from users that just went to vote (not part of the community) and 1 real vote. -- Màñü飆¹5 talk [es] 14:48, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi and thanks for your questions. The result is indeed 5 votes vs. 0 - the 2 items you saw in Opposing are part of the template. And thanks for the common note - yes, among the 5 votes, 4 are actually helping out at Khmer Wikipedia project. There are only 2-3 active contributors, and many other bots. Our Khmer Wiktionary has been abandoned for long while, that's why I am here to request for sysop. We are now building ground networking to recruit more volunteers and to match their interests/skills accordingly to our Khmer Wiki projects. You can have a look at some of our efforts here - Fan Page on FB, #kmwp twitter account, blog... And in case you need a Wiktionarian who is knowledgable in Khmer language, you can contact User:Stephen. Hope this clarifies. Thank you! --វ័ណថារិទ្ធ (Vantharith) 15:28, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
As some of you have figured out, there are NO votes against. There are only 5 votes for. Yes, one is an IP. What’s wrong with that? You can do a checkuser on the IP if you think it is fishy. Anonymous users can vote like anyone else. One of the "3 are from users that just went to vote" was me. I do most of the Khmer entries on English Wiktionary and I did not "just go to vote". He got 5 honest votes. Khmer Wiktionary is one of the small wikis and it is difficult to get any votes. The Khmer Wiktionary has no sysops and desperately needs one. Here is a willing volunteer who is native Khmer and who knows good English. He’s a goldmine and he got 5 votes, with no opposition.
We had this same problem on the Navajo Wikipedia and could not muster more than two or three votes. We got our admins in spite of that weakness and look what a boon it has been for the Navajo Wikipedia. You should give this willing and competent volunteer the buttons that he is asking for. Have you tried reaching out to a crat on sa.wiki? I know they are not active anymore but maybe they would consider appointing a crat there to handle the requests locally. There seems to be a lot of requests from sa.wiki, the community seems to be getting active again. Theo10011 13:22, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
The local crat is inactive. The recent request from sawiki was for a temporary adminship, but I think that the temporary admin does not know about things like IP blocks, and rights changes, and he has made some fundamental mistakes there. Hence my request. Yes Michael?Talk 13:26, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

There is no community and thats why I was able to get just 1 support with nobody in oppose. I am the largest contributor to this wiki. only temp can be granted, since no community. are you interested? Matanya 13:09, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
No problem, this wiki really needs a admin. Thanks in advance. Vibhijain 13:14, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
You already have temp. sysops on another indic language wiki, and you're using those rights to request these on a dead wiki. You haven't stated a purpose for requesting sysops, I hope you realize you can contribute to that project without admin rights. Theo10011 13:22, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
I am the largest contributor to this wiki and when I was editing on it, I just found that It desperately needs a admin and thats why I placed a request. I didn't saw any other active user on this wiki so I think I should be made the admin. I also have experience with sysop rights on Sanskrit wiki and rollback and reviewer rights on Hindi wiki.Vibhijain 13:25, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
Again, admin rights are to serve the community, its not a popularity contest where you collect temp. sysops on multiple projects. Others have mentioned that you did not properly know how to use sysops rights on sa wiki. Since there are no other active users on pi wiki by your own admission, granting you sysops alone might be questionable. Theo10011 13:31, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
I totally agree with you. You can see my edit history on pi wiki, I think I am the best candidate for Adminship on pi wiki as the current admin is inactive from October 2008. Vibhijain 13:53, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

Bureaucrat access

Ozymandias@ptwikiversity

According to the community vote, please grant bureaucrat access for Ozymandias@ptwikiversity. He is a sysop only since a month ago, but was previously from May 2008 to February 2010 (resigned). 555 21:57, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

My sincere apologies to both Ozymandias and fr33kman for any mixups, but outside of one exception (still hotly debated), the consensus amongst the stewards for years has been not to grant temporary 'crat access. If the minimum requirement for projects to have a 'crat needs to be changed, that should be re-addressed here on Meta. Until such point, however, the current consensus should stand. The removal of the bit should in no way shape or form be construed as a lack of confidence in either Ozymanidas or fr33kman; solely an reversion to consensus. Again, on behalf of the stewards, my apologies to both for any misunderstandings and unintentional hard feelings. -- Avi 17:56, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

This rule has been applied to all projects? Ozymandias 19:58, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
As far as I know, outside of one exception, there has never been the application of a temporary bureaucrat, nor has bureaucrat access been given to anyone who did not receive a minimum of 15 responses to the RfB. -- Avi 20:01, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
Per Avi. Temporary bureaucrat access will not be granted. As far as I recall there have been 2 exceptions and one of them was kind of an office action. Regards, -- Dferg ☎ talk 01:51, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Per Avi, Dfeng and [5] with very limited active users there, temporary bureaucrat flag is to be rejected as I see no need. Requests_for_comment/Minimum_voting_requirements#Bureaucrat should better become a global policy.--Jusjih 07:03, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Rododendron has been blocked indefinitely this evening for the abuse of sock puppetry. You may see the block logs at our wiki. Community confirmation about the desysop itself may be found here. Thanks in advance, Lolsimon 20:30, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but allow me to disagree here: that is not a community decision, it's a decision made by a handful of users, bypassing the normal desysop procedure on nl:wiki. Wutsje 21:27, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
I started the discussion, discussion is ongoing. Last 4 people suggest the 1 week procedure. I suggest waiting until this is clarified locally. Taketa 21:31, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
  • Bsadowski1 already removed the user's admin flag. We usually don't grant flags on wikis with active bureaucrats. A local bureaucrat may grants the flag back. -Barras 21:52, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
(after ec) Imo the bit removal was a premature decision, because there was certainly no community consensus to do so. Wutsje 22:03, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
    • The word "usually" indicates that it can be done and/or has been done in the past. Given the facts and the less than truthful representation of the user posting this request (regarding community support) I suggest the flag be returned until this has been settled to the nl: community's satisfaction. Right now there are serious doubts about the removal of the admin rights in contravention of the local regulations.--Kalsermar 22:01, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
      • The "usual" should say that at least I won't grant flags. I haven't seen when someone was given admin status on wikis like nl, exempt in cases where the flag was removed by accident. I'm not sure if our policies allow granting flags back. Either contact the performing steward here or simply get a crat to grant the flag back. -Barras 22:05, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
        • Maybe it is wise to wait until the nl.wiki community has reached some consensus (or reached the consensus about a regular desysop) on this difficult matter? The nl.wiki regulations on desysopping don't provide direct grounds for desysopping (yet) in the case an admin abuses his user right by abusing sockpuppets. Therefor it seems wise to me that you just wait until the nl.wiki community has spoken on this matter. A regular desysop (which measures confidence in an admin) is possible on nl wiki, and I think that the regular procedure should prevail on this meta actions... regards, Tjako 23:21, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

As my time available for Wikipedia-ing (and especially Oversighting) has been reduced over the last 6 months because of family and work commitments, I need to ask for my OS permission to be removed, as I have only used it on rare occasions in the time. I am hoping that the situation Wikipedia-time-wise will improve within the next year, whereupon I will hope to re-seek the OS flag! Please note that the OS permission is the only one I require to be removed - I still get to go online from time to time and do some admin-actions, it's just that at those times there are no requests outstanding for OSing! ---- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 23:25, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

A few questions and observations:
  1. Should not sysop access be also removed on flaggedrevs_labswikimedia and wikimania2010wiki?
  2. I can delete your userpages on enwiki and small projects but in ruwiki and other big wikis it is better to ask local administators.
  3. It looks more like an account renaming than a resignation. Ruslik 06:41, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Ruslik 06:41, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Ok, thanks, pls do it. I do not need sysop access on flaggedrevs_labswikimedia and wikimania2010wiki. As for the renaming, actually, I do not want to have any active account on ru.wp, and I do not care about my existing contribution on other projects. And the SUL renaming does not exist anyway. I think you can create one, or submit a request on the community portal page (as I see that page also used for bot request). It's very important to make a local request, even for temporary acces. I don't even see your user page there. Not good for an admin. — Tanvir • 10:42, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

@Pmlineditor, As i said there is no transliteration tool available in these projects, after being as admin i will have to install it first then i would able to contribute:))
@Tanvir, if i would be a steward i prefer temperory access to a user having good admin capability, after that period if i find him imrpoving and contributing the project a lot, i will prefer to extend his temperory adminship into permanent adminship in case of projects having no active user.--Mayur 13:52, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

Done, expires: 04/05/2011 please remember to translate the interface at betawiki: only and to upload images preferably to commons:, please come back a few days before the status expires to prolong it or hold a local voting if the community grows, thanks --dferg ☎ talk 16:41, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Kurniasan@bugwiki

I sysop access to the wiki to clear the translated MediaWiki messages. The Wikipedia so far has no community thus a voting can't be done. I am currently also a sysop on ms:Malay Wikipedia. Thanks in advance. --Kurniasan 13:26, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Has the community being informed & agreed with that cleanup? Even in a small community a local announcement in the local village pump must be done. Also, if it is about MediaWiki messages I think we can ask MediaWikiDefault to make the cleanup. -- Dferg ☎ talk 18:20, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. I've done the announcement at it's village pump bug:Wikipedia:Warung_Kopi. Besides cleaning the MediaWiki, I also need to edit the wiki's javascript and CSS so that some templates can work properly. --Kurniasan 20:07, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
Another thing, the javascript in the Wiki's Monobook.js is not updated after the interface change. There's a translteration script that change every input from user to Buginese script and there's no option to change it to roman for monobook users (since it's not compatible with the new interface, in the edit page). I need to fix that or change it to a gadget.--Kurniasan 10:39, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
Would temporary sysop access be OK? How about 3 months to start? --Daniel Mayer (mav) 13:58, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

I'm okay with that. --Kurniasan 14:13, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Mayur@hiwikibooks

Hi, I am mayur a bureaucrat and sysop of hindi wikipedia,I have contributed hindi wikipedia a lot, Now i want to contribute to other hindi wikimedia projects. For smooth activity and ease of access i need sysop flag on these projects so that i may install some gadgets and hindi transliteration tool on these projects. In Absense of transliteration tool no one can contribute to these projects.I hope like hi wikipedia i will make these projects useful for readers.Thank you and Reagards--Mayur 07:10, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

Hello, could you please give us a link to an approval from local community? --Mercy 08:37, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
As per RC there is no active users on wikiquote, there is no village pump for this project, also there is no page for adminship right request--Mayur 10:20, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi, i have updated the exact link for admin request in hi wikibooks--Mayur 17:32, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
Most actions on a wiki only require you to be an editor. Why do you need sysop, especially when global sysops and stewards exist? fr33kman 06:32, 4 February 2011 (UTC) (COI alert: I am a global sysop) :)
Strange question, Global sysop are supposed to work in wiki having no active local admins. And as far as i know there is no global sysop who understand hindi languagge or devnagri script in a better sense than me As i have worked a lot in hindi wikipedia and some another devnagri projevts. To change interface transaltion and some other setting that i have already implemented on hi wiki, i also need sysop flag. Now sysopship is not just for these changes to handle vandalism, to protect important pages from being vandalised i need sysop flag.Thank you and regards--Mayur 07:25, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
Almost all users who voted have little to no edits outside the vote page. I'm inclined to not grant this request but will not object if another Steward does. I'll check back in a couple weeks; if another Steward has not granted access, I'll set this request as Not Done. I am much moreso inclined to grant temp status. --Daniel Mayer (mav) 13:52, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
I really don;t know wha do you want, people who have voted are the experienced admins from hindi wiki. And as you know hi.wikibooks is a project having no admin and very very less or zero active users. We all want to develop a community there. But this is really a frustrating comment from a wikimedia steward.I have seen many example of such type where very less active users in a project have been granted sysop on behalf of 4 to 5 votes.Ok I will wait for a reply from another steward if he think same you may surely close this and all request filed by me.Thnak you and regards--Mayur 14:08, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
If temp admin status of 3 months is fine, then I'll grant that right now. We can reevaluate at that time. --Daniel Mayer (mav) 14:37, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
I have no objection with that but Now a big question arises here is that the policy for such kind of request should be similar for all users on all wikimedia projects.I have seen many request in past which has been granted by wikimedia stewards. Can you plz provide me a link for policies regarding electing sysop for any wikimedia projects.Thank you--Mayur 14:43, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
Done. Measuring activity levels and the applicability of a vote is up to individual stewards best judgment. --Daniel Mayer (mav) 14:52, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
Temp status granted for 3 months. If all goes well during that time I'll support permanent status. --Daniel Mayer (mav) 14:52, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Artem Korzhimanov@ru.wikinews

I have more than 400 edits in this domain and I am an administrator and arbitrator in ru.wp. I would like to help with importing some useful features for which I need access to MediaWiki. Our community is quite small (about 6-7 active users) so I hope 2 3 votes "pro" is enough for making decision. Artem Korzhimanov 14:13, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Are there any active users with edit histories more than a couple months old? I see that everybody who voted for you are rather new to ru.wikinews; I would like to see what more experienced users have to say. --Daniel Mayer (mav) 21:37, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Hm... Probably, I am misunderstanding your question, but two "pro" votes were given by Akishin D. and Ssr. Both have quite long edit histories: Akishin — since March, 2010 and Ssr —since May, 2010. Both are administrators and the most active editors now. Artem Korzhimanov 08:44, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Without many active users, I prefer granting temporary flag while your wiki already has a few other administrators.Jusjih 03:25, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Can you give admin rights to Ionutzmovie permanently? The current bureaucrat is not active or does not have time. See the discussion.MSClaudiu 08:42, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

Not with only one vote. How about three months temporary status and then either a renewal or a new vote to see if there is enough community support for permanent? --Daniel Mayer (mav) 12:34, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
The problem is that now on ro.wikinews are just 2 active members, me and MSClaudiu. I've also been elected admin on ro wiki. But sure, if there is no other posibility I will accept the rights for three months.Ionutzmovie

Wōdenhelm@angwiki

Wōdenhelm has been actively editing the ang:Ænglisc Ƿikipǣdia for many years now and is one of the few editors to stick with it. He has also been a temporary admin on angwiki. This is now expired and so needs to be redone. I'd ask stewards to consider a 6 or 12 month adminship since 3 months seems a tad short for such a dedicated user who used the mop often when he had it. fr33kman 11:24, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Miscellaneous requests

Four users@thwikipedia

During the test of new Abuse filter extension on Thai Wikipedia, I (user name: Taweetham) have accidentally lost auto-confirm status. The other three users (user names: Aristitleism, Sasakubo1717, Octahedron80) lost theirs too because of filter #2 that I have set up. The filter is now deactivated by other admin but we still cannot retrieve our status. Local sysops and bureaucrats have tried their best to fixed this but to no avail. So, requesting help here is our last resort solution. Please kindly restore auto-confirm status on th.wikipedia for four of us (Taweetham, Aristitleism, Sasakubo1717, Octahedron80). Thank you very much. --Taweetham 03:04, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Would you prefer if every action of that filter is undone, or if only your 4 users autoconfirmed status is restored? Which is better likely depends on how many other users were impacted. Prodego talk 03:44, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
Done. No other (unblocked) users were affected. —Pathoschild 03:53:49, 08 May 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for restoration. But I have to say that certain functions are still locked and therefore unable to be used, such as special characters under text box and Scripts. And I guest that the three other users suffer with the same also. --Aristitleism 04:23, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
After discussion, it is local problem, not in connection with this restoration or filter. Sorry. --Aristitleism 04:41, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
Done Thank you very much. We have just introduced a number of MediaWiki extensions and upgrades resulting in a mess like this one. As my autoconfirm status is restored, I can now clear up other problems at local site myself. --Taweetham 05:31, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
