edit counters overwhelmed?

edit

I'm afraid I think I may have broken the counter. It worked for the first week, but then I made a big (~270,000 edits) set using Quickstatements of edits linking Australian suburbs to their neighbouring suburbs (example). In case you're relying on it, I just thought I'd better let you know this may be the cause in case it helps you to take me off the list of users the bot has to sort through. PS linking the neighbours has allowed this very pretty map. --99of9 (talk) 10:58, 25 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

@99of9, New South Wales with location in North America is being shown linked in otherwise a pretty picture. Please check. Arjunaraoc (talk) 11:42, 26 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Arjunaraoc: Thanks. Yes, it provides a new way of detecting editing errors: [1]. Now reverted. --99of9 (talk) 00:15, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi 99of9, thank you for the message! I'll take a look, but I don't think the counter (in the dashboard I assume?) can be broken with this amount of edits. Actually all dashboards, not just the one for Australian participants or for Coordinate Me, had technical problems in the last week(s). They are being worked on, but it seems there are quite a lot of edits still not visible there. For the final results we will wait and we will check that the numbers are complete. --Manfred Werner (WMAT) (talk) 13:08, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Manfred Werner (WMAT) I know you were hoping to release results soon, but I don't think it's fixed. The Australian dashboard here is "paused" and asking us to report if we need results [2], and then the aggregate overall event table Wikidata:Events/Coordinate_Me_2024/Results_and_winners only has a few of my NZ edits, and no AUS ones at all from me. --99of9 (talk) 05:15, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@99of9 We are aware of the problem with the Australia dashboard and in contact with the team working on the Programs & Events Dashboards. Hopefully we can solve the issue soon. For the numbers on NZ I just downloaded the most current author statistics, they show 290 items edited by you. In the last table from 2024-06-02 there were 291. This is not really satisfying, I don't know where such changes are coming from. But the dashboards are the only way we can get the numbers. We will check the statistics, but in the end we have to work with what they are delivering. --Manfred Werner (WMAT) (talk) 10:51, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Manfred Werner (WMAT) Personally I'm not worried about the difference between 290 and 291, although I understand your desire to be accurate. That kind of issue could be due to slightly different assumptions about the count. I'm more worried about the difference between 0 and ~270,000 . I'm also worried that I broke the AU counting for others. The best way to get AU right for others may be to withdraw me from the dashboard. --99of9 (talk) 13:46, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have not checked all your edits on Wikidata in May. For the contest only those items that have the property P625 (coordinate location) set are taken into account. Could it be, you edited items where a location could be set but where P625 is not used on its Wikidata entry? --Manfred Werner (WMAT) (talk) 11:01, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Manfred Werner (WMAT) Approximately 270,000 were edits to items with P625. See the first post in this thread. The map would not be possible if P625 was not set. There is a sample edit linked from my first post. Every item on the map had similar edits made by me. You can click through from any of the points to that suburb's wikidata entry, then the history will show my edits on all of them. --99of9 (talk) 13:46, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, I see. What I will try now: I will remove you from the list of participants auf the Australia dashboard to see if it works then. And I will create another dashboard for Australia with you as the only participant ([3]). Maybe this way we can get your numbers and then the overall numbers. --Manfred Werner (WMAT) (talk) 16:41, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Nice work, that appears to already be working better. --99of9 (talk) 00:27, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
