Liverpool supporters have seen first hand some of the bright young talent coming through the Academy this season. Young right back Conor Bradley has excited everyone with his energetic attacking play from the right back position as he filled in for an injured Trent Alexander-Arnold.

It seems that Reds fans should also be excited about one of their young defenders who plays on the opposite flank. Owen Beck has spent the season on loan with Dundee FC in the Scottish Premiership outside of a short emergency spell over the winter where he made one substitute appearance for the senior Liverpool side. Over the weekend, Beck was named to the PFA Scotland Team of the Year for his play while on loan.

Beck was voted in to the Team of the Year by his peers, which is a huge accomplishment for a player just 21 years of age. The byline with the announcement of Beck’s accomplishment stated:

“Liverpool loanee Beck has been a bright spark in an impressive Dees side this term, making an impact at both ends of the park.”

Beck has featured 28 times in all competitions for Dundee FC. He has two goals and four assists in the Scottish Premier League, putting him third in his side for goals and assists on the season, and has been a key offensive cog with 168 crosses, more than double that of anyone else on the team. He also leads his side in tackles won and interceptions on the defensive end.

The accolades are even more impressive as Beck has been out with a groin injury since early March. He has been back in Liverpool undergoing rehab for the injury, but Dundee manager Tony Docherty is hopeful Beck will be able to return before the end of the season.

“We’ll hopefully see him before the end of the season, he is making progress. Owen played 28 games in a row at that level and that’s something he’d never done before.”

“We’re keeping in regular contact with Liverpool and it would be great to get him back for some stage of the season. But, at the moment, we’re still waiting on word on that.”
