Rumour Mongering: Asking Price for Koopmeiners Complicates Juventus Bid

A price tag of €60m is said to be tempering Juventus’ interest.

According to a report from Tuttosport, Juventus has been in contact with Teun Koopmeiners’ agent regarding a potential move. The player is said to be keen, but Juventus apparently sees Liverpool's emergence as a suitor as a potential stumbling block.

The player sees himself either playing for Juventus or a Premier League team like Liverpool, Newcastle, or Manchester United. While Juventus can offer the player a wage raise, that would certainly be dwarfed by what the English teams can offer if they enter the fray.

Atalanta are said to be demanding a fee of €60m (about £51.6m) for his services, which is said to be putting off the Bianconeri. That’s probably justified since the player is coming off a great season where he has registered 16 goals with another eight assists.

The fee isn’t obscene, and it is well noted that incoming manager Arne Slot has worked with the player before, even making him captain at AZ Alkmaar. The player is understood to be open to linking up with his former manager again, this time on Merseyside.

While a signing in midfield won’t immediately be top of mind for most fans this summer, I think it is needed. Thiago’s absence this season hasn’t helped with Alexis Mac Allister’s minutes, and he looks like he’s been run into the ground as of late. In my opinion, having someone who could alternate with Mac as the progressive passer in midfield would be a good addition.
