User:Scriberius, RL name Matthias, was born in 1971 (Chinese zodiac sign: Pig) in Braunschweig, W. Germany. He has received an Honorary High school diploma from Hood River Valley High, Hood River, Oregon in 1990 and a Fachabitur diploma in 1992 from Fachgymnasium Wirtschaft in Braunschweig, Germany. He moved to Neubiberg (Munich district) in the same year and to Munich in 1995. He's employed by the same institution since January 1996. In his spare time, he enjoys paintings, music and gaining general knowledge among many more. In the 1990s, he was into sailing and boating and attained some licenses with that. Working with Wikimedia Commons has become a major interest in 2005 and is ongoing. His work is currently stressed on visual arts.
He is related to Jacob Georg Christian Adler, Matthias Claudius, Melchior Lorck and Caspar Aquila among other celebs/scholars. My ancestors originated from Denmark, Poland (then Silesia), France (Huguenots → Berlin), Switzerland and Germany.
He received a full scholarship for attending Wikimania 2011 in Israel by Wikimedia Deutschland e.V. (WMDE).
Travel
Scriberius travelled to more than 25 countries, his main type of travel is independent travelling off the beaten paths. He likes to encounter the everyday-life of the locals, especially their culture. The two farthest locations were, according to geodatasource.com/distance-calculator,

Books
I have read more than 150 books so far, starting as a child. English language books include Lord of the Flies (1991), portions of the bible (mostly during Sunday School lessons and sermons in 1989/1990) and of course school books during my exchange year. Last read books: Eine Billion Dollar, Der Letzte seiner Art. My current book is Freedom™ ("Darknet").
Visual Arts
I have been always into visual arts (drawings and paintings), in late 2007 it became somewhat like a passion. I don't know why, maybe it's because of Wikimedia Commons usage.
Paintings I have studied (originals and with professional guide only)
Music
I have learned to play the following instruments in the 1970s and 1980s: recorder, piano (over 6 years, 4 years at Städtische Musikschule Braunschweig), Spinet and electronic organ). Also, I like to sing (including one year in High School — The Madrigal singers of HRVHS impressed me at that time), I was a member of the Jazz and Concert Choir of Hood River High School, class of 1990. I'm esp. gifted with rhythm.
My mother was a music teacher at a public school and also a teacher for special ed. My paternal grand grandfather was a professional organist in Wałbrzych, Lower Silesia, Poland (seems like I have partly inherited some of his genes).. My maternal grandfather was an officer in the WW I and II in the Wehrmacht.
My music styles are all but country music and Volkstümliche Musik. Nowadays, I do not prefer to listen to Heavy Metal anymore (1980s) or even Rap/Hip Hop (1990s). My main favorite music style is classical music. Since 2015, I'm an ensemble member of AGV München (Grosser Chor).
Misc.
I have watched TV for ~35 years for almost every day, nowadays some minutes per month. I have listened to radio programmes for the same time, but nowadays, this rarely happens.
