There is consensus that arXiv is a [[WP:SPS|self-published source]], and is generally unreliable with the exception of papers authored by established [[subject-matter expert]]s. Verify whether a paper on arXiv is also published in a peer-reviewed [[academic journal]]; in these cases, cite the more reliable journal and provide an [[open access]] link to the paper (which may be hosted on arXiv).
