Cinderella sale (plural Cinderella sales)

  1. (business, retail) An occasional sale of miscellaneous or damaged items.
    • 1915, Chilton Company (publisher), Boot and Shoe Recorder, Volume 67, page 47:
      Instead of advertising small widths and sizes in women's shoes, the event was called the Cinderella sale.
    • 1975, Farm Supplier, volume 49, page 399:
      Why not try a Cinderella Sale? Offer a table of odds and ends, broken sizes, leftovers, etc. Make prices ridiculous.
