Photo taken from a 1940 book whose author (sv:Nils Hellström) died 1984. Unless this was published previously, it's not PD. Rd232 (talk) 18:35, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
- Comments from the uploader: The book is an anthology with several authors, not a work by Hellström alone; he was mainly its editor. And anyway Hellström was not a photographer so his year of death should have nothing to do with whether this photo is in PD or not. Unfortunately I do not know who the photographer is (the book gives no picture credits at all, nor any copyright notices), but he is almost certainly an unknown American. I would also be surprised if the photo had not been published earlier in the U.S. - its a typical promotional shot - but I'm afraid I have no proof of that. This was one of my earliest uploads to Commons and I was not at that time yet aware of how complicated these matters are. /FredrikT (talk) 11:51, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
