Interesting pic, but unfortunately, no COM:FOP US for works of art in USA, unless the art is pre-1926 MPF (talk) 23:43, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MPF, yes I see your point. This was uploaded before I started to understand the (very complicated) American copyright laws. I have now inserted what I believe is the correct commons copyright tag, namely: This painting appears to date from the 1940s or 1950s; please see [1]. As such, this work is in the public domain because it was published in the United States between 1926 and 1963 and although there may or may not have been a copyright notice, the copyright was not renewed. For further explanation, see Commons:Hirtle chart. Note that it may still be copyrighted in jurisdictions that do not apply the rule of the shorter term for US works (depending on the date of the author's death), such as Canada (50 years p.m.a.), Mainland China (50 years p.m.a., not Hong Kong or Macao), Germany (70 years p.m.a.), Mexico (100 years p.m.a.), Switzerland (70 years p.m.a.), and other countries with individual treaties.
I hope this clarifies matters, and many thanks again. Daderot (talk)
Greetings again. Since I haven't heard from you for a week, I'm going to go ahead and remove the deletion request. Please don't think of this as a provocation - I'm not trying to start an edit war. If you continue to feel it should be deleted, please just reinstate the request. with all best wishes, Daderot (talk)
@Daderot: - sorry, been forgetting to check up on this! Looked through, your argument convinces me they are OK to keep :-) MPF (talk) 23:46, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kept: per discussion. --Ellywa (talk) 03:17, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
