Garrison Keillor Hospitalized for Minor Stroke

Garrison Keillor, the folksy-voiced humorist and longtime radio host, has suffered a minor stroke, but plans to begin his new season of “A Prairie Home Companion” as scheduled, The Associated Press reported. Mr. Keillor checked himself into a hospital in St. Paul on Monday after not feeling well and was admitted to Saint Marys Hospital at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., a spokesman for the hospital said.

Mr. Keillor will remain at the facility until Friday for tests and then plans to resume his schedule, David O’Neill, a spokesman for Mr. Keillor said. “A Prairie Home Companion” will begin its new season on Sept. 26 from the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul.

Garrison Keillor is one of the greatly talented post big network radio personalies. Along with Bob and Ray, Jean Shepherd…

And the DJ’s on (the original alternative radio stations in New York City) for a brief period of time: WOR-FM and for a few decades, the former WNEW-FM — Rosko (Bill Mercer), Scott Muni, Zacherly, Allison Steele(the ‘Nightbird’)…

The forgotten medium: great radio is great!

Having lived my entire adult life without a TV (some thirty years), I am a great fan of community radio. The pictures on radio are much better than that of TV.

My wife and I listen to your radio show every Sat. or Sun.We wish you a quick recovery and your return to NPR as soon as possible.
