TOKYO -- Yahoo Japan is considering having another company provide its search engine technology, which is currently supplied by a Google affiliate, Nikkei has learned.

Yahoo's contract with Google expires at the end of March 2025. To determine whether to renew the agreement, the Japanese company has begun an internal technical test called a "bucket test," according to people familiar with the matter.
