@Luke @adactio That was a world on the policy and access side I worked in for a few years after grad school (before returning to build things) and the TeleGeography maps were on everybody’s walls - https://www2.telegeography.com
It is a brittle and fragile digital world. The consultancy I worked for focussed on augmenting all of this from the air and space in the mid to late 90s.
@adactio It meant that mastodon.ie wasn’t available to me here in NZ some seven hours later and rather depressingly my ISP hadn’t registered it as a problem when I rang to report it as a fault.
They must have had a large number of routes drop from their tables and no alarm was raised. It wouldn’t have happened in my day (and that was many years ago} :-)
