Ballia: The police on Saturday arrested two men for allegedly killing their minor sister in the Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh, an official said on Sunday. The motive behind the act was the girl allegedly speaking with another man on the phone. A search is underway for another brother who was involved in the crime, the police said.

The investigation began after the minor girl's body was recovered from a place near a temple in the Bansdih area on June 17, as per PTI.

The body was then sent for a postmortem.

According to the report by PTI, it was confirmed in the post-mortem that she was strangulated and her face was found to be partially burned with acid.

The girl had been murdered and dump as she used to talk to a man on the phone against the wishes of her brothers, the police said.

"It was found during the investigation that the minor girl used to talk to a man over the phone against the wishes of her three brothers. As a result, they murdered her and dumped her body," Superintendent of Police Devranjan Verma said, as quoted by PTI.

The two accused, who had been arrested, told the police that they used acid from batteries to disfigure the minor's face and make it difficult for her to be identified.

The third brother, also an accused in the case, is currently missing. A search is currently underway to find him, the police said.
