New Faces in England Squad?

With the international break coming up, news regarding the England squad are beginning to surface. The retirements of Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard, as well as injuries to several England regulars means that the door is open for new faces to step in and fill the void left behind by the absence of those above. According to Guardian, Calum Chambers, Danny Rose, Fabian Delph, and John Stones are being considered by Hodgson for England's next game, a friendly against Norway. With the Euro 2016 qualifiers just around the corner, Hodgson will use the friendly as an opportunity to test these newcomers.

Among those names, Stones are the only one to have been capped at the senior level, as he played twice in the World Cup warm-up matches just a few months ago. He will likely be joined by Chambers, the 19-year old has had quite a meteoric rise despite having only played in 24 Premier League games. Chambers' ability to play at right back and center back is probably the reason why Hodgson will take a gamble on the youngster. Tottenham's Rose, is likely to fill in at left back possibly as Baines' deputy, due to the injury to Luke Shaw. While Delph will cover for the absence of Michael Carrick and Ross Barkley.

The names above are yet household name, but most of them are associated with one word: potential. All of them are still young enough (Delph is the oldest of the bunch, he'll turn 25 in November) and with time, could turn to be valuable squad members. Retirement, injuries, and forms may rob England of some regulars, but there is no fault in trying out new faces and introduce some competition in the squad.
