Skylight’s 15-inch touchscreen planner is probably the last calendar your family will ever need.

As cool and useful as the Skylight Calendar is, I can’t blame anyone for feeling apprehensive about paying north of $300 for something their smartphone and a cheap paper calendar can do. But the 15-inch version of the excellent family planner is now receiving a rare $70 discount at Amazon and Best Buy, which drops it to an all-time low of $249.99. If you’re a Costco member and don’t mind waiting until tomorrow, May 10th, you can even pick it up for $219.99 ($80 off).

The Skylight Calendar is a fun smart display that lets you create color-coded sticky notes and appointments, which look similar to the Google Calendar web interface. (By the way, Skylight sells an even more impressive 27-inch version that starts at $569.99 and a more cost-efficient 10-inch model that goes for $159.99.) The touchscreen device allows your family to see what’s coming up at a glance, whether that’s an important event, weekly chores (which you can gamify and check off once complete), doctor’s visits, and so on. You could even set up a meal plan to demystify your family’s food choices for the week. It also lets you set reminders, make lists, and check the weather forecast for any given day.

As you might expect, you can sync it with calendars you already use from popular services like Google Calendar, iCloud, Outlook, and even Yahoo. That’s in addition to managing it all from the Skylight app on your smartphone, and you can grant access for others to do the same. You can mount the Skylight Calendar on a wall or set it on the included stand, but sadly, there are no magnets to put it on, say, a refrigerator. Your purchase comes with a free one-month trial of Calendar Plus ($39.99 a year), too, which lets you use it as a photo frame and add events automatically from forwarded emails and PDF files.

The Skylight Calendar is a digital family calendar you can mount on your wall or the included stand. The digital planner has a companion app that makes it easy to sync your existing calendars, though you can also add new entries right on the device’s touchscreen.
