Can Gil continue his impressive run in a start against the ChiSox?

With one win in the books, the Yankees will look to add another series victory to their tally this afternoon. Last night’s 4-2 triumph over the White Sox got a little close for comfort towards the end, but a good start from Nestor Cortes and homers from Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton ended up being enough.

In today’s game, Luis Gil will take the mound for the Yankees. In his last outing, he continued his very impressive run so far, throwing six shutout innings against the Rays last weekend. His only real concern so far has typically been walks, but Chicago ranks towards the bottom of the league in drawing them, so we’ll happens today.

For the White Sox, Brad Keller gets the start. He’s been pretty good for them so far this season, in a swingman/multi-inning reliever role, albeit in just 12.2 innings. The 28-year-old righty is in his first season with Chicago after spending the first six years of his MLB career with the Royals. It started off modestly enough, but he ended with an 84 ERA+ and 1.629 WHIP across three seasons from 2021-23, with the last curtailed by a right shoulder impingement.

The lineup behind Gil is fairly normal, with Jon Berti getting the start at third base. Jose Trevino will catch Gil.

We hope you’ll join us in the game thread for this afternoon’s action!
