SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

Addressing complex societal challenges that impact interconnected systems requires us to consider different regional and local contexts to identify equitable solutions.

That's why SDG 17 is a focus for Springer Nature; we work in partnership with others to accelerate delivery of the goals by connecting researchers, policymakers, and practitioners through targeted events and new content formats.

Collaborative networks

SDG 17 seeks to improve global cooperation, infrastructure, and equity, and at Springer Nature, we are signatories and participants of many collaborative networks including:

  • SDG Publishers Compact, a collaboration between the UN and the International Publishers Association to develop sustainable practices and act as champions by publishing books and journals that will help inform, develop, and inspire action in the direction of SDGs
  • Research4Life, a unique UN agencies/international publishers network making research available in low-income countries by providing free access to training and resources to enable researchers in under-represented regions to develop research capabilities
  • Science for a Sustainable Future – a joint UN SDSN / Springer Nature initiative that brings together key stakeholders, policymakers, and researchers to discuss and advance the objectives of SDGs
  • UN Women Media Compact created in 2016 to encourage news media to enact policies that further gender equity, with an eye toward the visibility of women globally, particularly relevant to SDG 5
  • Sustainable Development Knowledge Cooperative to facilitate knowledge exchange and equip decision makers with the information that will help address the world’s most pressing challenges
  • The Climate Pledge to achieve net zero by 2040 particularly relevant to SDG 13
  • Valuable500, a global organization of 500 partners working together to end disability exclusion
