The document summarizes a research paper that proposes the VisualRank approach for image retrieval from large-scale image databases. It describes extracting visual features like texture, color, and gray histograms from images. Images are ranked based on measuring similarity between these extracted features. K-means clustering is used to group similar images, and minimum distance is calculated to retrieve images with maximum similarity to the query image. The implementation and results of applying VisualRank to an image database are discussed, showing it can effectively retrieve relevant images based on visual feature matching.
This document describes a project that aims to detect backgrounds in images with poor lighting and enhance contrast using morphological operations. The proposed method involves two approaches: 1) dividing the image into blocks and analyzing each block to determine background parameters, and 2) using morphological erosion and dilation with structuring elements to compute minimum and maximum intensity values within windows of the image for background detection and contrast enhancement. The results and conclusions of implementing these methods are then presented.
Ijip 742Image Fusion Quality Assessment of High Resolution Satellite Imagery ...CSCJournals
Considering the importance of fusion accuracy on the quality of fused images, it seems necessary to evaluate the quality of fused images before using them in further applications. Current quality evaluation metrics are mainly developed on the basis of applying quality metrics in pixel level and to evaluate the final quality by average computation. In this paper, an object level strategy for quality assessment of fused images is proposed. Based on the proposed strategy, image fusion quality metrics are applied on image objects and quality assessment of fusion are conducted based on inspecting fusion quality in those image objects. Results clearly show the inconsistency of fusion behavior in different image objects and the weakness of traditional pixel level strategies in handling these heterogeneities.

A Survey of Image Segmentation based on Artificial Intelligence and Evolution...IOSR Journals
Abstract : In image analysis, segmentation is the partitioning of a digital image into multiple regions (sets of
pixels), according to some homogeneity criterion. The problem of segmentation is a well-studied one in
literature and there are a wide variety of approaches that are used. Different approaches are suited to different
types of images and the quality of output of a particular algorithm is difficult to measure quantitatively due to
the fact that there may be much correct segmentation for a single image. Image segmentation denotes a process
by which a raw input image is partitioned into nonoverlapping regions such that each region is homogeneous
and the union of any two adjacent regions is heterogeneous. A segmented image is considered to be the highest
domain-independent abstraction of an input image. Image segmentation is an important processing step in many
image, video and computer vision applications. Extensive research has been done in creating many different
approaches and algorithms for image segmentation, but it is still difficult to assess whether one algorithm
produces more accurate segmentations than another, whether it be for a particular image or set of images, or
more generally, for a whole class of images.

Global Descriptor Attributes Based Content Based Image Retrieval of Query ImagesIJERA Editor
The need for efficient content-based image retrieval system has increased hugely. Efficient and effective retrieval techniques of images are desired because of the explosive growth of digital images. Content based image retrieval (CBIR) is a promising approach because of its automatic indexing retrieval based on their semantic features and visual appearance. In this proposed system we investigate method for describing the contents of images which characterizes images by global descriptor attributes, where global features are extracted to make system more efficient by using color features which are color expectancy, color variance, skewness and texture feature correlation.
Quality assessment of resultant images after processingAlexander Decker
This document discusses quality assessment of images after processing. It provides an overview of traditional perceptual image quality assessment approaches, which are based on measuring errors between distorted and reference images. These methods involve channel decomposition, error normalization based on visual sensitivity, and error pooling. The document also discusses information theoretic approaches to quality assessment, which view it as an information fidelity problem rather than just a signal fidelity problem. These approaches relate visual quality to the mutual information shared between the reference and test images. However, these methods make assumptions that are difficult to validate.

This document describes a proposed method to improve image classification accuracy and speed using the bag-of-features model with spatial pooling. The proposed method has two phases: a training phase to create an image feature database, and an evaluation phase to classify new images. In the evaluation phase, spatial pooling is applied to input image features before classification with KNN. Variance-based feature selection is also used to reduce features before KNN classification. Experimental results show the proposed method improves classification accuracy up to 5% and reduces classification time by up to 50% compared to the standard bag-of-features model.
Image compression and reconstruction using a new approach by artificial neura...Hưng Đặng
This document describes a neural network approach to image compression and reconstruction. It discusses using a backpropagation neural network with three layers (input, hidden, output) to compress an image by representing it with fewer hidden units than input units, then reconstructing the image from the hidden unit values. It also covers preprocessing steps like converting images to YCbCr color space, downsampling chrominance, normalizing pixel values, and segmenting images into blocks for the neural network. The neural network weights are initially randomized and then trained using backpropagation to learn the image compression.

MULTIPLE CAUSAL WINDOW BASED REVERSIBLE DATA EMBEDDINGijistjournal
Reversible data embedding is a technique that embeds data into an image in a reversible manner. An important aspect of reversible data embedding is to find embedding area in the image and to embed the data into it. In the conventional reversible techniques, the visual quality is not taken into account which resulted in a poor quality of the embedded images. Hence the histogram modification based reversible data hiding technique using multiple causal windows is proposed which predicts the embedding level with the help of the pixel value, edge value, Just Noticeable Difference(JND) value. Using this data embedding level the data is embedded into the pixels. The pixel level adjustment considering the Human Visual System (HVS) characteristics is also made to reduce the distortion caused by data embedding. This significantly improves the data embedding capacity along with greater visual quality. The proposed method includes three phases: (i).Construction of casual window and calculation of edge and JND values in which the casual window determines the pixel values, the edge and the JND values are calculated (ii).Data embedding which is the process of embedding the data into the original image (iii). Data extractor and image recovery where the original image is recovered and the embedded bits are obtained. The experimental results and performance comparison with other reversible data hiding algorithms are presented to demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithm. The experimental results show that the Performance of the proposed system on an average shows an accuracy of 95%.

This document summarizes a research paper that proposes a system called Nymble to address the problem of restricting mischievous users in anonymizing networks. The key points are:
1) Nymble allows servers to blacklist misbehaving anonymous users without compromising their privacy by issuing "nymbles" (special pseudonyms) that can be linked to blacklist a user's future connections.
2) Nymble aims to provide anonymous authentication, backward unlinkability, individual blacklisting, and fast authentication speeds while addressing Sybil attacks and revocation.
3) The system divides time into "linkability windows" and periods to allow blacklisting a user's future connections within a window while preserving anonymity of past connections.

An Impact on Content Based Image Retrival A Perspective Viewijtsrd
The explosive increase and ubiquitous accessibility of visual data on the Web have led to the prosperity of research activity in image search or retrieval. With the ignorance of visual content as a ranking clue, methods with text search techniques for visual retrieval may suffer inconsistency between the text words and visual content. Content based image retrieval CBIR , which makes use of the representation of visual content to identify relevant images, has attracted sustained attention in recent two decades. Such a problem is challenging due to the intention gap and the semantic gap problems. Numerous techniques have been developed for content based image retrieval in the last decade. We conclude with several promising directions for future research. A Study on Image Retrieval Features and Techniques with Various CombinationsIRJET Journal
This document discusses image retrieval techniques for content-based image retrieval systems. It begins with an introduction to the growth of digital image collections and the need for large-scale image retrieval systems. It then reviews different features used for image retrieval, such as color histograms, color moments, color coherence vectors, and discrete wavelet transforms. Edge features and corner features are also discussed. The document concludes that using only one feature type such as color or texture is not sufficient, and the best approach is to extract multiple high-quality features and combine them for image retrieval.
APPLICATIONS OF SPATIAL FEATURES IN CBIR : A SURVEYcscpconf
This document summarizes research on using spatial features for content-based image retrieval (CBIR). It first discusses common CBIR techniques like feature extraction, selection, and similarity measurement. It then reviews several related works that extract spatial features like edge histograms and color difference histograms. Experimental results show integrating spatial information through image partitioning can improve semantic concept detection performance. While finer partitions carry more spatial data, coarser partitions like 2x2 are preferred to avoid feature mismatch. Future work may explore combining multiple feature domains and contexts to further enhance retrieval accuracy and effectiveness for large-scale image datasets.
Applications of spatial features in cbir a surveycsandit
With advances in the computer technology and the World Wide Web there has been an
explosion in the amount and complexity of multimedia data that are generated, stored,
transmitted, analyzed, and accessed. In order to extract useful information from this huge
amount of data, many content based image retrieval (CBIR) systems have been developed in the
last decade. A typical CBIR system captures image features that represent image properties
such as color, texture, or shape of objects in the query image and try to retrieve images from the
database with similar features. Retrieval efficiency and accuracy are the important issues in
designing Content Based Image Retrieval System. The Shape and Spatial features are quiet easy
and simple to derive and effective. Researchers are moving towards finding spatial features and
the scope of implementing these features in to the image retrieval framework for reducing the
semantic gap. This Survey paper focuses on the detailed review of different methods and their
evaluation techniques used in the recent works based on spatial features in CBIR systems.
Finally, several recommendations for future research directions have been suggested based on
the recent technologies.

Comparison of Various Web Image Re - Ranking TechniquesIJSRD
Image re-ranking, is an quite an efficient way to improve the results that are fetched from the web-based image search query. Given a query keyword for the image, a pool of images are first retrieved based on textual information, then the images are re-ranked based on their visual similarities with the query image according to the user input. But when, the images’ visual features do not match with the semantic meanings of the users’ entered query or keyword, it becomes a major challenge to make available the actual searched image. Hence, in this paper, the various Web image Re- ranking techniques are studied, on how it approaches towards the Web Image search that the user has input in query.
The document proposes an attribute-assisted reranking model for web image search. It uses semantic attributes along with visual features to represent images, constructs a hypergraph to model relationships between images, and performs hypergraph ranking to reorder search results. Attributes provide an intermediate-level semantic description that can help reduce the semantic gap between low-level visual features and high-level meanings. The proposed approach extracts both visual and attribute features from initial search results, builds a hypergraph integrating the two types of features, and learns relevance scores to rerank the images.
Liang Content Based Image Retrieval Using A Combination Of Visual Features An...Kalle
Image retrieval technology has been developed for more than twenty years. However, the current image retrieval techniques cannot achieve a satisfactory recall and precision. To improve the effectiveness and efficiency of an image retrieval system, a novel content-based image retrieval method with a combination of image segmentation and eye tracking data is proposed in this paper. In the method, eye tracking data is collected by a non-intrusive table mounted eye tracker at a sampling rate of 120 Hz, and the corresponding fixation data is used to locate the human’s Regions of Interest (hROIs) on the segmentation result from the JSEG algorithm. The hROIs are treated as important informative segments/objects and used in the image matching. In addition, the relative gaze duration of each hROI is used to weigh the similarity measure for image retrieval. The similarity measure proposed in this paper is based on a retrieval strategy emphasiz-ing the most important regions. Experiments on 7346 Hemera color images annotated manually show that the retrieval results from our proposed approach compare favorably with conventional content-based image retrieval methods, especially when the important regions are difficult to be located based on visual features.
IRJET- Image based Information RetrievalIRJET Journal
This document discusses content-based image retrieval (CBIR) for retrieving images based on visual similarity. It focuses on using CBIR to match images of monuments for tourism applications. The paper describes extracting shape features using edge histogram descriptors to divide images into sub-images and compare edge distributions. An experiment matches images of Humayun's Tomb and the Statue of Liberty by comparing their edge magnitude values across sub-images. Similar edge distributions between two images' sub-images indicates similarity in shape and matches the images. The paper concludes CBIR using shape features can effectively match similar images of monuments to provide relevant information to users.
Precision face image retrieval by extracting the face features and comparing ...prjpublications
This document describes a proposed method for improving content-based face image retrieval. The method uses two orthogonal techniques: attribute-enhanced sparse coding and attribute-embedded inverted indexing. Attribute-enhanced sparse coding exploits global features to construct semantic codewords offline. Attribute-embedded inverted indexing considers local query image features in a binary signature to efficiently retrieve images. By combining these techniques, the method reduces errors and achieves better face image extraction from databases compared to existing content-based retrieval systems. It works by extracting features from the query image, matching them to database images, and returning ranked results.

The aim of this paper is to present a comparative s

The main idea of PCA is to transform the high dimen

by maximizing the difference between classes and mi

A Graph-based Web Image Annotation for Large Scale Image RetrievalIRJET Journal
1) The document proposes a graph-based framework called Web Image Annotation for Large Scale Image Retrieval to improve the accuracy of automatic image annotation.
2) The framework first identifies a set of visually similar images from a large image database to label a query image, then applies a graph pattern matching algorithm to find representative keywords from the annotations of similar images.
3) The approach is extended to Probabilistic Reverse Annotation to rank relevant images, which takes the novel approach of matching keywords to images rather than images to keywords to improve annotation performance for large datasets.

Content Based Image Retrieval : Classification Using Neural Networksijma
In a content-based image retrieval system (CBIR), the main issue is to extract the image features that
effectively represent the image contents in a database. Such an extraction requires a detailed evaluation of
retrieval performance of image features. This paper presents a review of fundamental aspects of content
based image retrieval including feature extraction of color and texture features. Commonly used color
features including color moments, color histogram and color correlogram and Gabor texture are
compared. The paper reviews the increase in efficiency of image retrieval when the color and texture
features are combined. The similarity measures based on which matches are made and images are
retrieved are also discussed. For effective indexing and fast searching of images based on visual features,
neural network based pattern learning can be used to achieve effective classification.
A SURVEY ON CONTENT BASED IMAGE RETRIEVAL USING MACHINE LEARNINGIRJET Journal
This document provides a literature review of recent research on content-based image retrieval using machine learning techniques. It summarizes 8 research papers that used approaches like convolutional neural networks, color histograms, deep learning, hashing functions and more to extract image features and retrieve similar images from databases. The goal of content-based image retrieval is to find images that are semantically similar to a query image based on visual features.
Image Retrieval using Equalized Histogram Image Bins MomentsIDES Editor
CBIR operates on a totally different principle
from keyword indexing. Primitive features characterizing
image content, such as color, texture, and shape are computed
for both stored and query images, and used to identify the
images most closely matching the query. There have been
many approaches to decide and extract the features of images
in the database. Towards this goal we propose a technique by
which the color content of images is automatically extracted to
form a class of meta-data that is easily indexed. The color
indexing algorithm uses the back-projection of binary color
sets to extract color regions from images. This technique use
without histogram of image histogram bins of red, green and
blue color. The feature vector is composed of mean, standard
deviation and variance of 16 histogram bins of each color
space. The new proposed methods are tested on the database
of 600 images and the results are in the form of precision and
recall.
Novel Hybrid Approach to Visual Concept Detection Using Image AnnotationCSCJournals
Millions of images are being uploaded on the internet without proper description (tags) about these images. Image retrieval based on image tagging approach is much faster than Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) approach but requires an entire image collection to be manually annotated with proper tags. This requires a lot of human efforts and time, and hence not feasible for huge image collections. An efficient method is necessary for automatically tagging such a vast collection of images. We propose a novel image tagging method, which automatically tags any image with its concept. Our unique approach to solve this problem involves manual tagging of small exemplar image set and low-level feature extraction of all the images, hence called a hybrid approach. This approach can be used to tag a large image dataset from manually tagged small image dataset. The experiments are performed on Wang's Corel Dataset. In the comparative study, it is found that, the proposed concept detection system based on this novel tagging approach has much less time complexity of classification step, and results in significant improvement in accuracy as compared to the other tagging approaches found in the literature. This approach may be used as faster alternative to the typical Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) approach for domain specific applications.
Electrically small antennas: The art of miniaturizationEditor IJARCET
We are living in the technological era, were we preferred to have the portable devices rather than unmovable devices. We are isolating our self rom the wires and we are becoming the habitual of wireless world what makes the device portable? I guess physical dimensions (mechanical) of that particular device, but along with this the electrical dimension is of the device is also of great importance. Reducing the physical dimension of the antenna would result in the small antenna but not electrically small antenna. We have different definition for the electrically small antenna but the one which is most appropriate is, where k is the wave number and is equal to and a is the radius of the imaginary sphere circumscribing the maximum dimension of the antenna. As the present day electronic devices progress to diminish in size, technocrats have become increasingly concentrated on electrically small antenna (ESA) designs to reduce the size of the antenna in the overall electronics system. Researchers in many fields, including RF and Microwave, biomedical technology and national intelligence, can benefit from electrically small antennas as long as the performance of the designed ESA meets the system requirement.
This document provides a comparative study of two-way finite automata and Turing machines. Some key points:
- Two-way finite automata are similar to read-only Turing machines in that they have a finite tape that can be read in both directions, but cannot write to the tape.
- Turing machines have an infinite tape that can be read from and written to, allowing them to recognize recursively enumerable languages.
- Both models are examined in their ability to accept the regular language L={anbm|m,n>0}.
- The time complexity of a two-way finite automaton for this language is O(n2) due to making two passes over the
This document analyzes and compares the performance of the AODV and DSDV routing protocols in a vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) simulation. Simulations were conducted using NS-2, SUMO, and MOVE simulators for a grid map scenario with varying numbers of nodes. The results show that AODV performed better than DSDV in terms of throughput and packet delivery fraction, while DSDV had lower end-to-end delays. However, neither protocol was found to be fully suitable for the highly dynamic VANET environment. The document concludes that further work is needed to develop improved routing protocols optimized for VANETs.

This document summarizes research on the exposure of microwaves from cellular networks. It describes how microwaves interact with biological systems and discusses measurement techniques and safety standards regarding microwave exposure. While some studies have alleged health hazards from microwaves, independent reviews by health organizations have found no evidence that exposure to microwaves below international safety limits causes harm. The document concludes that with precautions like limiting exposure time and using phones with lower SAR ratings, microwaves from cell phones pose minimal health risks.
This document summarizes a research paper that examines the effect of feature reduction in sentiment analysis of online reviews. It uses principle component analysis to reduce the number of features (product attributes) from a dataset of 500 camera reviews labeled as positive or negative. Two models are developed - one using the original set of 95 product attributes, and one using the reduced set. Support vector machines and naive Bayes classifiers are applied to both models and their performance is evaluated to determine if classification accuracy can be maintained while using fewer features. The results show it is possible to achieve similar accuracy levels with less features, improving computational efficiency.
This document provides a review of multispectral palm image fusion techniques. It begins with an introduction to biometrics and palm print identification. Different palm print images capture different spectral information about the palm. The document then reviews several pixel-level fusion methods for combining multispectral palm images, finding that Curvelet transform performs best at preserving discriminative patterns. It also discusses hardware for capturing multispectral palm images and the process of region of interest extraction and localization. Common fusion methods like wavelet transform and Curvelet transform are also summarized.
This document describes a vehicle theft detection system that uses radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. The system involves embedding an RFID chip in each vehicle that continuously transmits a unique identification signal. When a vehicle is stolen, the owner reports it to the police, who upload the vehicle's information to a central database. Police vehicles are equipped with RFID receivers. If a stolen vehicle passes within range of a receiver, the receiver detects the vehicle's ID signal and displays its details on a tablet. This allows police to quickly identify and recover stolen vehicles. The system aims to make it difficult for thieves to hide a vehicle's identity and allows vehicles to be tracked globally wherever the detection system is implemented.
This document discusses and compares two techniques for image denoising using wavelet transforms: Dual-Tree Complex DWT and Double-Density Dual-Tree Complex DWT. Both techniques decompose an image corrupted by noise using filter banks, apply thresholding to the wavelet coefficients, and reconstruct the image. The Double-Density Dual-Tree Complex DWT yields better denoising results than the Dual-Tree Complex DWT as it produces more directional wavelets and is less sensitive to shifts and noise variance. Experimental results on test images demonstrate that the Double-Density method achieves higher peak signal-to-noise ratios, especially at higher noise levels.
This document compares the k-means and grid density clustering algorithms. It summarizes that grid density clustering determines dense grids based on the densities of neighboring grids, and is able to handle different shaped clusters in multi-density environments. The grid density algorithm does not require distance computation and is not dependent on the number of clusters being known in advance like k-means. The document concludes that grid density clustering is better than k-means clustering as it can handle noise and outliers, find arbitrary shaped clusters, and has lower time complexity.
This document proposes a method for detecting, localizing, and extracting text from videos with complex backgrounds. It involves three main steps:
1. Text detection uses corner metric and Laplacian filtering techniques independently to detect text regions. Corner metric identifies regions with high curvature, while Laplacian filtering highlights intensity discontinuities. The results are combined through multiplication to reduce noise.
2. Text localization then determines the accurate boundaries of detected text strings.
3. Text binarization filters background pixels to extract text pixels for recognition. Thresholding techniques are used to convert localized text regions to binary images.
The method exploits different text properties to detect text using corner metric and Laplacian filtering. Combining the results improves
This document describes the design and implementation of a low power 16-bit arithmetic logic unit (ALU) using clock gating techniques. A variable block length carry skip adder is used in the arithmetic unit to reduce power consumption and improve performance. The ALU uses a clock gating circuit to selectively clock only the active arithmetic or logic unit, reducing dynamic power dissipation from unnecessary clock charging/discharging. The ALU was simulated in VHDL and synthesized for a Xilinx Spartan 3E FPGA, achieving a maximum frequency of 65.19MHz at 1.98mW power dissipation, demonstrating improved performance over a conventional ALU design.
This document describes using particle swarm optimization (PSO) and genetic algorithms (GA) to tune the parameters of a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller for an automatic voltage regulator (AVR) system. PSO and GA are used to minimize the objective function by adjusting the PID parameters to achieve optimal step response with minimal overshoot, settling time, and rise time. The results show that PSO provides high-quality solutions within a shorter calculation time than other stochastic methods.
This document discusses implementing trust negotiations in multisession transactions. It proposes a framework that supports voluntary and unexpected interruptions, allowing negotiating parties to complete negotiations despite temporary unavailability of resources. The Trust-x protocol addresses issues related to validity, temporary loss of data, and extended unavailability of one negotiator. It allows a peer to suspend an ongoing negotiation and resume it with another authenticated peer. Negotiation portions and intermediate states can be safely and privately passed among peers to guarantee stability for continued suspended negotiations. An ontology is also proposed to provide formal specification of concepts and relationships, which is essential in complex web service environments for sharing credential information needed to establish trust.

The document aims to prove that BBO is the best algorithm for resolving the mixed pixel problem by comparing it to other evolutionary algorithms. It also includes figures illustrating concepts like the species model and habitat in BBO.
This document discusses principal component analysis (PCA) for face recognition. It begins with an introduction to face recognition and PCA. PCA works by calculating eigenvectors from a set of face images, which represent the principal components that account for the most variance in the image data. These eigenvectors are called "eigenfaces" and can be used to reconstruct the face images. The document then discusses how the system is implemented, including preparing a face database, normalizing the training images, calculating the eigenfaces/principal components, projecting the face images into this reduced space, and recognizing faces by calculating distances between projected test images and training images.
This document summarizes research on using wireless sensor networks to detect mobile targets. It discusses two optimization problems: 1) maximizing the exposure of the least exposed path within a sensor budget, and 2) minimizing sensor installation costs while ensuring all paths have exposure above a threshold. It proposes using tabu search heuristics to provide near-optimal solutions. The research also addresses extending the models to consider wireless connectivity, heterogeneous sensors, and intrusion detection using a game theory approach. Experimental results show the proposed mobile replica detection scheme can rapidly detect replicas with no false positives or negatives.
