Week one
- 1. Peek at the Week: o In Reading, the students began Unit Four. The students were introduced to the consonant sound of /r/ and our new high frequency words “to, on”. We focused on the main idea of a story. o In Math, the students worked on making patterns with craft sticks and used the calculator to skip count by repeating the sequence. We also began working in our math books. o Students practiced printing the upper and lowercase letter Rr. We continued to focus on spacing and placement, as well as letter formation. o During Social Studies, we discussed how important it is to be a good citizen in the community and why rules are important. o In Science, we observed and described different rocks. Coming Up: o In Reading we will be working on the sound of /p/ at the beginning and end of words. Our new high frequency words will be “me, look”. o In Math, we will practice measuring with our own feet and standard feet. Students will be working with many numbers on Jan. 31st for the 100th day! We will also begin counting by fives! o In Science, we will continue with Earth Science. o Students will work on printing the upper and lowercase Pp. o We continue to work in journals on writing words and sentences using sounds we know. Our goal is to write more than one sentence. We will be doing writing two days each week to help us achieve this goal.
