Adapting Designers' tools, methodologies for the futureAriana Koblitz
A talk presented at Angela Yeh's Thrive By Design & Yeh IDeology 15 year Anniversary Design Summit.
The theme for the summit was Metamorphosis: Designing our new Ear.
This talk walks through the ways in which I as a designer commit to the future I want to build, recognize the tensions and challenges in achieving this outcome, and dig into three (of many) tools and how we can adapt them moving forward.
My work as a design researcher/strategist. This includes projects where I played multiple hats, including design research.
Emphasis is on the way research tangibles are catalysts for teams to make decisions at different points in the design process.
- The document provides summaries of design research projects conducted by Ariana Koblitz, a design researcher, for various clients.
- The research involved qualitative user research methods like interviews and journey mapping to understand student and family experiences.
- Insights from the research informed the design of prototypes for task management apps for students and family chore apps.
Kosaku Nao: Biography of a Man who made a DifferenceAriana Koblitz
What a find! 6th grade me putting pen to paper. Awful font choice aside, it's a nostalgic read. And a reminder of the lessons my family has to teach me.
I was savvy enough at 12 to reflect on my grandfather's life and the choices he made-- here's to my 25 yr old self to resolve to continue to learn from my family.
A high-level overview: Defining "design", design in higher education, in indu...Ariana Koblitz
A lunch 'n' learn presentation; relies somewhat heavily on the the word notes, and the intended audience works in Service, Product, and Mechanical Design.
This talk is intended to give a brief introduction to the world of design, meant to be accessible to someone just starting out in the field, or recently joining a team with designers.
It includes a general way to approach the topic, and an overview of what design can look like in academic fields and professional industries.
What to do when you're sitting in front of a ppt deck that needs fixing.
A quick Pecha Kucha (20 slides 20 seconds) presentation.
The notes have more content than I presented, so all in all this should be a nice quick easy resource!
Ariana Koblitz: case book of physical product designAriana Koblitz
Find here a collection of projects that give a quick look into the tools of my trade. As part of the engineering school, I had access to a full array of manufacturing tools and methods.
These helped me prototype both rough and final versions of the projects I worked on while studying Product Design at Stanford University.

case book of past projects. the focus of this case book is of the research process that led to our insights, which in turn directs the product development.
Ariana Koblitz presents a design portfolio containing 6 case studies that demonstrate her application of the design thinking process. The case studies include manufacturing a whiskey glass cooler, designing a chore management app, building a floating cup tower prototype, creating a mold-based children's art product, developing client relationships for a toy designer, and gaining new insights through close observation. The portfolio shows Koblitz's skills in prototyping, product development, communication, and applying design thinking methodology.
This document appears to be a cover letter and portfolio from Ariana Koblitz applying for an internship. It includes 6 case studies from her product design projects at Stanford University. The case studies cover visual cues, household chores, designing under constraints, creating a children's toy, developing a brand identity, and integrating multiple manufacturing processes. Throughout the portfolio, Ariana emphasizes traits like being observant, insightful, creative, innovative, refined, dedicated, and having finesse. She aims to apply design thinking to solve problems and meet user needs.

Karen is a mother of three children who works part-time and struggles to keep up with household chores. She brainstormed developing an iPhone app called "Household" to track and assign chores to family members. The app would allow Karen to monitor chores remotely and alert family if chores are not completed. Feedback suggested adding features like syncing between devices, taking photos of completed chores, and automating chore assignments. Additional potential features include individual login accounts, automatic reminders tied to allowances, and integrating payments. The process taught the importance of learning design and coding skills.

Menus are ubiquitous in websites and applications of all types. They are critical to accessing the information and actions that users need, yet they can be very frustrating to use. In our UX consulting practice, many clients have come to us for help solving problems with menus, such as scaling to handle long lists of options, and overcoming usability issues with hover and flyout menus. In this presentation we’ll review what we have learned about best practices for designing mega menus, context menus, hamburger menus, full page menus and other types, and share case studies of menu redesigns we have worked on for enterprise applications, mobile apps, and information-rich websites.
