PlayCap is a packet replay tool that allows users to replay packet capture (PCAP) files by reading the files and sending the captured packets to a selected network interface. It has a graphical user interface and was created by Signal11. To use PlayCap, download the source code, build it using CMake, open a PCAP file, select a network interface, and click "Playback" to replay the packets. Other packet replay tools include those integrated with Wireshark, while sites like the Bro IDS wiki collect packet traces for analysis or replay.

Each processor/chip architecture has its own procedure to boot the kernel. It works with desgined partition layout and vendor specific firmwares/bootloaders in the boot partition. We can learn the related knowledge from the Raspbian image for Raspberry Pi, which is the board we can obtain easily. However, the diversity between the special booting procedures with specific firmwares/bootloaders increases the complexity for distribution maintainers. It will be great if there is a way to make it more generic that can be applied to most of the chip architectures/boards to boot up the system.
After referring to some Linux distributions, we learned U-Boot may play a role in the solution. It splits the booting procedure into hardware specific and generic system parts. This helps distribution maintainers deploy the generic system with OSTree, including device trees.

Kernel Recipes 2015 - Porting Linux to a new processor architecture
Getting the Linux kernel running on a new processor architecture is a difficult process. Worse still, there is not much documentation available describing the porting process.
After spending countless hours becoming almost fluent in many of the supported architectures, I discovered that a well-defined skeleton shared by the majority of ports exists. Such a skeleton can logically be split into two parts that intersect a great deal.
The first part is the boot code, meaning the architecture-specific code that is executed from the moment the kernel takes over from the bootloader until init is finally executed. The second part concerns the architecture-specific code that is regularly executed once the booting phase has been completed and the kernel is running normally. This second part includes starting new threads, dealing with hardware interrupts or software exceptions, copying data from/to user applications, serving system calls, and so on.
In this talk I will provide an overview of the procedure, or at least one possible procedure, that can be followed when porting the Linux kernel to a new processor architecture.

As you know, one of Grub2 functions makes LiveCD iso image booting directly. You are able to make multi-boot UBS drive by this function and try to use several LiveCD Linux Distributions. Last openSUSE.Asia Summit 2015, I introduced how to make multi-boot USB drive by Grub2 function of booting LiveCD iso booting directly and successful booting cases of describing style on grub.cfg. But I could not introduce the successful booting case of openSUSE bootable iso image. Now, I found a success case of openSUSE bootable iso image. I introduce an inspection result of this case and successful factors. Additionally, hardware control of PC is currently changing from BIOS to EFI/UEFI, which is interface specification of operating system and firmware. You need a different approach from the conventional BIOS for booting on EFI/UEFI. I introduce how to create a EFI/UEFI multi-boot USB drive for LiveCD bootable iso images including openSUSE. If you have this milti-boot USB drive, it is easy for you to explain superiority of openSUSE while comparing with some Linux distributions. And you are able to carry different purpose LiveCD openSUSEs by SUSE Studio without PC.

As you know, one of Grub2 functions makes LiveCD iso image booting directly. You are able to make multi-boot UBS drive by this function and try to use several LiveCD Linux Distributions. Last openSUSE.Asia Summit 2015, I introduced how to make multi-boot USB drive by Grub2 function of booting LiveCD iso booting directly and successful booting cases of describing style on grub.cfg. But I could not introduce the successful booting case of openSUSE bootable iso image. Now, I found a success case of openSUSE bootable iso image. I introduce an inspection result of this case and successful factors. Additionally, hardware control of PC is currently changing from BIOS to EFI/UEFI, which is interface specification of operating system and firmware. You need a different approach from the conventional BIOS for booting on EFI/UEFI. I introduce how to create a EFI/UEFI multi-boot USB drive for LiveCD bootable iso images including openSUSE. If you have this milti-boot USB drive, it is easy for you to explain superiority of openSUSE while comparing with some Linux distributions. And you are able to carry different purpose LiveCD openSUSEs by SUSE Studio without PC.

- 3. What’s Packet Replay? To replay the content (packet data) of a given PCAP(packet capture) file(or called (Packet)Trace file) as it was captured. Also named Packet Playback or Traffic Generation. PCAP file is created using PCAP library: * libpcap for Unix / Linux - http://www.tcpdump.org/ * WinPcap for MS Windows - http://www.winpcap.org/ Packet monitoring/capturing tool could save captured packet data as PCAP file. CLI-based tcpdump http://www.tcpdump.org/ WireShark (Ethereal) https://www.wireshark.org/ GUI-based Microsoft Network Monitor http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=4865

PlayCap PlayCap is a GUI packet replay tool created by Signal11 - http://www.signal11.us/oss/playcap/ GUI is based on Fox Toolkit (http://www.fox-toolkit.org/) which is a cross-platform, C++-based widget toolkit. Download Source Code To download PlayCap source code from the site https://github.com/signal11/PlayCap/downloads : or through Git: git clone git://github.com/signal11/PlayCap.git Build PlayCap PlayCap uses CMake (http://www.cmake.org/) as its build system on Linux and Windows. Build instructions are located in the README.txt under source folder. Under terminal, change to PlayCap source folder and run the following commands to build the software: $ cmake . (the period could be skip, cause to that cmake will find CMakeList.txt in current folder defaultly)
- 5. $ make If you meet error messag as below, please include the header <unistd.h> for Unix/Linux system in the source file "PlaybackWindow.cpp". $ sudo make install (run as Root role) Use 1) Run PlayCap executable as Root role(cause to that it needs Root privilege for opening a network interface) to show PlayCap window(here using generated playcap tool in source folder).
- 6. 2) Click menu item ”File > Open” to invoke file choosing dialogue window, navigate to the location of PCAP file want to be played and press OK. 3) Click and it will show a dialogue to select which network interface the packets will be sent to.
- 7. 4) Press the “Playback” button of the network interface you want, PlayCap will start to read PCAP and send captured packet to the selected network interface. Total time Total number of packets
