التفكير هو من سمات العقل البشري، وهو عملية معقدة ذات خطوات متعدّدة، وتتداخل فيها عوامل كثيرة، والتفكير هو نشاط يحدث في خلايا الدماغ بعد حدوث أمر معين، ممّا يؤدي إلى حدوث تفاعل ما بين الذكاء والإحساس وخبرات الإنسان، والدافع هو تحقيق هدف معين.
