- 2. YOUR MIND IS A MONKEY Always in motion
- 3. The Buddhists call it ‘monkey mind’ - because it is continually distracted and on the move. You have two choices: put it in a cage or give it something to play with. If you’re not learning, your monkey mind is caged. It might be moving, but it’s not going anywhere. What’s calling you is outside the cage.
- 4. ONE MISSING PIECE Inside the cage, your monkey mind is looking at this. Imagine how it feels to put 999 pieces in place and not be able to complete the picture. The piece you need isn’t locked in the cage.
- 5. YOU NEED A COMMUNITY Someone has the missing piece to your puzzle.
- 6. I came to NLP Canada Training and discovered key pieces I was missing. I thought the missing pieces meant I was broken. It turned out that they were motivation to connect. I discovered that leading a learning community didn’t mean being right all the time. It seems more often to mean experimenting in public, falling down, and getting back up. As long as we have our eyes on the horizon and we keep moving, we’re good.
- 7. All our leaders have all been lost or stuck. They build inukshuks, landmarks that remind you other people have visited the same difficult territory.
- 8. CONVERSATION MATTERS When you think about the words that have changed your life, they were probably part of a conversation. Our conversations are like inukshuks. They let us know that we’re not the only ones in the wilderness and that there’s a way through it. Talking to yourself can’t do that.
- 9. At NLP Canada Training, you find yourself talking with people of different ages, different work, different interests, and different experiences. We come from Canada, from Africa, from Europe, from the Middle East, from Australia and from South America. And we all have stories to tell.
