Looking From a Theoretical Lens Perspective The language of qualitative research can be confusing. The words sound like regular English, but they have very particular meanings. To make the language even more complicated, the definitions can vary across different qualitative methodological scholars. For the purpose of this course, distinctions between three important concepts should be considered: Theoretical lens: the position the researcher takes to identify what kind of knowledge (ontology) and knowledge process (epistemology) they will use for their study. The position directs the choice of research approach, procedures, and interpretative framework. Examples: Interpretivism, constructivism, critical theory, feminist theory Theoretical framework: the use of constructs and propositions a recognized theory (or theories) to a research problem, purpose, and question. Examples: Social Influence theory, transformational leadership theory, game theory Conceptual framework: the construction of ideas, assumptions, and beliefs sourced in both the literature and one’s own experience, which identify the main concepts that guide the formulation of the research problem, purpose, and question. Examples: Concepts from positive psychology, mindfulness meditation, language development models .

the view that critical thinking is best taught by practising it. We o� er alternative
proposals for the teaching of critical thinking.
Critical thinking is a subject of considerable current interest, both in terms
of theory and pedagogy. A great deal is written about critical thinking,
conferences on the subject abound, and educational initiatives aimed at
fostering critical thinking proliferate.1 It is our view that much of the
theoretical work and many of the pedagogical endeavours in this area are
misdirected because they are based on faulty conceptions of critical think-

Proper sewage disposal and clean water is the best method to prevent the spread of this disease.
Roughly, 14,000 cases of cholera were reported after hurricane Matthew. The International Medical Corps provided aid in the treatment of cholera. "We also supported Haiti’s Ministry of Public Health and Population’s (MSPP) oral cholera vaccination campaign, through which approximately 729,000 people were vaccinated. We provided operational support for the campaign, including payment and logistics for vaccinators, monitoring and evaluation capacity. In addition, we are operating seven mobile medical units focused on reaching remote and isolated communities, traveling by foot, canoe, and any means necessary to deliver health care and vital relief supplies.In addition to our Emergency Response Team’s Hurricane Matthew activities, our Haiti Country Team continues to implement ongoing health, nutrition, and WASH programs in Nord, Nord-este, Artibonite, and Ouest departments.(IMC, 2017)."
Other organization such as the Red Cross, the World Health Organization, the U.S. Military, the PanAmerican Health Organization, and the Center for Disease Control, sent medical supplies, clear water, and monetary funds to contributed to rebuilding the country. The United European Nations sent similar resources. All of the above organizations responses were appropriate. Sending medical supplies and medical professionals to aid in protecting the population of Haiti was effective in slowing the infection rates. The loss of hospitals were offset by the monetary and military support deployed. Four years later Haiti is still rebuilding from this devastating disaster.

After 7 years, Dan experienced major health problems: a quadruple cardiac bypass surgery, followed by surgery for pancreatic cancer.
