Amul is an Indian dairy cooperative, based at Anand in the state of Gujarat.[2] Formed in 1948, it is a brand managed by a cooperative body, the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF), which today is jointly owned by 3.6 million milk producers in Gujarat.[3] Amul spurred India's White Revolution, which made the country the world's largest producer of milk and milk products.[4] The white revolution was spearheaded by Tribhuvandas Patel under the guidance of Sardar Patel and Verghese Kurien. As a result, Kaira District Milk Union Limited was born in 1946. Tribhuvandas became the founding chairman of the organization and led it until his death. He hired Dr. Kurien three years after the white revolution. He convinced Dr. Kurien to stay and help with the mission.[citation needed] Kurien, founder-chairman of the GCMMF for more than 30 years (1973–2006), is credited with the success of Amul.[5] Amul has become the largest food brand in India and has ventured into markets overseas. Amul products are now available in more than 60 countries.

About her career  Kran Mazumdar-Shaw is known all over as a respected industrialist and capitalist from india  She is the Chairman and Managing Director of a Biotechnology company Biocon Limited head quartered in Bangalore,India  She passed out in 1968 from Bangalore’s Bishop Cotton Girls High School and wanted to persue medicine

5.  Kiran Mazumdar finish her BSC with a specialisation in zoology in 1973 from Bangalore University  After graduation kiran went to Australia and completed her post graduation  She founded Biocon in 1978 and led to its growth and progress by converting it from a manufacturing enzymes business company to an entirely incorporated drug and medicine company

6. Philanthropic Activities  In 2004, Kiran Mazumdar started the Biocon Foundation to conduct health, education, sanitation and environment programs for the benefit of the economically weaker sections of the society

Philanthropic Activities  Pledged 75% of her wealth to philanthropy, including expanding the Indian cancer treatement,infrastructure and bridging the governance deficit at the Bangalore city level  Since 2005 she is donated some $ 33 billion to philanthropic causes and diagnosing and rsearching the diseases and caring patients

8.  The center piece is the 1400 bed Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Center built in 2007 in bangalore and specializing in head and neck breast and blood related cancers  They were built 800 toilets in kuskur gram panchayath of Anekal taluk in Karnataka  Since 2005 Shaw has turned over atleast half of her annual Biocon dividends to these programes

9.  She is arranging free education of the employees children,creches for babies,subtle persuasion towards family planning and adoption of villages around her organisation
