Microsoft PowerPoint's Basic Text Formatting Tools
The term Formatting refers to the appearance of text or objects on a slide.
The basic formatting tools are found on the Home tab of the ribbon; the tools
you use more often.

There are 2 groups of text formatting tools on the ribbon: The font group and
the Paragraph group.

Text
Fonts are sets of characters, numbers, and symbols in a specific style or design.
Auto Fit is enabled by default because it is a useful feature that most users
appreciate in most situations. Texts can be italicized, boldfaced, underlined, or
formatted with effects. To access font effects go to the Font group s dialog box
launcher to open the Font dialog box. When you hold the mouse pointer over a
color box, the color s name appears in a screen tip. Use the Font Color button to
access the palette of colors you can apply to a selected text. Format Painter is a
tool that copies formatting from one block of text to another.
Indentation
It determines how far from the text box s left and right margins the text appears.
There are 2 indentation settings:
1. Before Text, applies to all lines in the paragraph.
2. The second is a specialty setting that varies according to the paragraph type:
• Hanging: A reverse indent. The first in line is a reverse-indented by the specific
    amount.
• First line: A standard first-line indent.
• (none): This removes any special indents for the first line, often the most useful
    for bulleted and numbered lists.

paragraphs of text.

handles: one in each corner
and one in the middle of each
side.
Fill and Border to a text box
You can use the Shape Fill and Shape Outline tools to set the formatting
for a text box. You are not limited to plain solid colors for text box fills.
You can fill using gradients, patterns, textures, and pictures to create
 interesting special effects.

Or stacks one letter atop the other. You can also change orientation by rotating
the text box itself. PowerPoint enables you to set the margins in a text box.
Aligning text boxes on a slide
Aligning a text box ensures that items on a slide align precisely and
neatly with one another when it is appropriate for them to do so.
The left, right, and center commands on the Align menu refer to
horizontal alignment, either in relation to the slide or to other
selected content. The top, middle, and bottom commands refer to
vertical alignment.
Checking Spellings

PowerPoint compares each word in the presentation to its built-in and custom
dictionaries, and flags any words that it does not find, plus any instances of
repeated words, such as the the.
