• Kris joined for a local college in Bsc Physics.
Then he realized that maths was his problem.
• He lost his confidence many times. But his
tuition teacher helped him to regain his

admission in IIM and got through to the
interview only to find that he couldn’t express
himself in English at all. So he did not make it.
• One day he would be on the board of
governors of an IIM.
• The IIM experience taught him how important
communication is.
8. • After that he joined IIT in Madras(M.Tech
course in computer science).
• That time he worked day and night for IBM
370 mainframe computer at the campus.
• Then he realized that he can develop a
program by himself.
• It was the turning point to become the co-founder
of Infosys.
9. PHILANTHROPIC CONTRIBUTIONS
• He donated $1.8 million(Rs.11 crore) to Carnegie
Mellon University (CMU) for a research partnership
between CMU and Center for Brain Research (CBR) at
the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore.
• In January, Gopalakrishnan had set aside Rs.225 crore
to develop the center for brain research at IISc. It was
one of the philanthropic contributions to the pure
science in India and one of the single largest donations
the 105-year-old institute received from an individual.
