December 2011 talks started regarding which direction we would in go as a school in the use of ICT Easter 2012 we decided to move to a BYOD environment, not to replace the current provision, but to enhance. July 2012 Teaching staff received iPads Summer Break 2012 our existing school WiFi was replaced to cope with huge increase in devices. September 2012 Students were allowed to bring their own devices and we introduced a scheme to buy an iPad over 2 years. ICT PROVISION

- 25. DEVICES IN THE CLASSROOM I use the ShowMe App to create a short explanatory video of the main points of a lesson, which I can easily upload to the ShowMe website. I then take that web address provided and go to qrcode.kaywa.com, paste the address, click generate and then save the QR Code image. I can then use this QR Code to make a poster for the classroom or to cut out and tape into a students book who may have missed the lesson or wants a reference to go with there notes. There are several QR Reader Apps the students can use to scan the posters or their exercise books.

- 27. DEVICES IN THE CLASSROOM In English, students videoed an advert for a new type of phone, which was to be created with free apps that they found during a 10 minute 'find an app slot‘ SloProStop-motion Camera iMajiCam
- 28. In Chemistry I demonstrated a science practical in silence. Students videoed the demo and then added their own voice over They used their video in order to carry out the experiment. With 'higher' groups, the original demo contained 3 deliberate mistakes that the students had to spot before they were allowed to carry out the experiment. - 31. WHAT NEXT Continue show and tell sessions during briefing. Increase Staff Training specifically for a multi device classroom including: classroom management and ways enhance teaching and learning. Introduce Student Training including: Acceptable use of their devices and ideas of how they can use them in school.

Combining learning through devices with regular learning • Devices should not be used because they are available – should only be used when relevant for learning. • Typicality – it may not go right the first time, that doesn’t mean it won’t again. • Important to try out what is to be achieved and keep that at the forefront! • Technical Help on hand!
- 44. Learning and Attainment • Give students ownership for their learning • Could flipped learning work for you? • Devices must be used in conjunction with your establishments T&L and Assessment Practices. • Devices are not the sole answer, they can enhance what is already being used.
- 45. Outstanding learning and education • Staff have the ability to share good practice in the classroom. – Video tutorials – Blogging – Discussion Forums – Resource Sharing • Frog has been a vehicle for doing this within the Academy, as well as other packages.
