In a recent interview on ‘Conversa com Bial,’ Endrick, the rising Brazilian football talent who is set to join Real Madrid from Palmeiras this summer, shared candid insights into his journey, highlighting the weight of responsibility on his shoulders and the importance of maintaining a childlike joy on the field.

Reflecting on his approach to the game, Endrick expressed, “I want to play. Taking responsibility on the field of play is horrible. I felt that, you feel very heavy and you need to feel light, happy, really like a child. Just like my four-year-old brother Noé, without responsibility for anything.”

He emphasized the significance of finding joy in the game, echoing the advice of his coach Abel, who encouraged him to embrace his inner child. Endrick remarked, “You have to enter the field to be happy, like a child in an amusement park. Just as Abel told me, that I had to go to Disney, that I was a child and I had to have fun. I took that advice for life. I think when I go on the field, it’s my playground.”

Endrick’s journey to success has been driven by a deep sense of responsibility towards his family. “When I score a goal I think a lot about my family, because I know that having a good house, food on the table, a good school, was in my hands,” he shared. “This happened when I started to have a good career in Palmeiras... When I had the first contract, I was able to give it to my family, so that weight was lifted.”

Beyond the triumphs on the field, Endrick also addressed the challenges he and his family have faced, particularly regarding racism. Recalling his mother’s advice to stay resilient, he asserted, “One thing my mother always told me was to stay calm, to not let things get me down. I don’t have white skin, I really have black skin, it was God who gave me that tone. I’m not going to let these kinds of things shake me, but rather make me stronger.”
