24-23 - Lucky 13th! Walk-off HBP keeps Rangers above .500

Well, that’s one way to win a ballgame

MLB: Cleveland Guardians at Texas Rangers Andrew Dieb-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers scored three runs while the Anaheim Angels scored twice in 13 innings.

If you can’t score a run via a hit, why not score via a hit by pitch? That’s how the Rangers accomplished the winning run in the 13th inning after Texas and Anaheim combined to go 2-30 (LAA 0-18, TEX 2-12) with runners in scoring position.

The win keeps the Rangers above .500 and is the eighth time this season that Texas has played a game with a .500 record and won to prevent themselves from sliding below .500 for the first time in Bruce Bochy’s tenure.

Player of the Game: Props to Jose Urena for six innings of one-run ball and to David Robertson and Yerry Rodriguez for two innings apiece of navigating around the Manfred Man to keep the game tied long enough for the Rangers to walk it off.

Up Next: The Rangers go for a series win with RHP Michael Lorenzen next up for Texas against RHP Jose Soriano for Anaheim.

The Sunday afternoon finale from The Shed is set for 1:35 pm CT and will be aired on BS Southwest.
