Out pro wrestler Joshua City walked down a different aisle earlier this month: the wedding aisle.
City, real name Joshua Simmons, married his partner of nearly two years in a small ceremony in San Diego at the beginning of May.
Framed by flower blossoms and foliage, the two exchanged vows outside the San Diego County Administrative Building overlooking the San Diego Bay. The ceremony came two months City’s now-husband proposed.
The happy couple celebrated their bond on social media shortly afterward.

City is notable for using pro wrestling as an advocacy platform for HIV awareness and fighting HIV stigma within pro wrestling and other combat sports. He wrestled his first match in nine years at San Francisco Bay Area-based promotion Full Queer’s Bearrison Street Fair event in 2022 after being diagnosed as HIV-positive in 2013.
Despite his HIV being undetectable for years prior to his return match, City continually ran into roadblocks, fueled by stigma and a lack of understanding about the evolution of HIV treatment and what being “undetectable” means.
The San Diego setting was perfect for the ceremony as City has become a fixture within the LGBTQ nightlife scene of America’s Finest City, during his time away from the ring. He regularly promotes and hosts dance nights, kink events and even the occasional drag-fueled pro wrestling night at area gay bars.
The queer community within San Diego is sure to continue showering love on the happy couple as they start the next chapter of their journey together.
