The Rockford Files: Never Send a Boy King to Do a Man's Job (1979)
Best Episode in the Series
A tour-de-force for crime-noir fans. This 2 hour special show is dynamite. I have read all of the reviews listed here and I see all of the comments and sentiments could be valid. My view on this episode is that it appears we see a new and darker side to Jim Rockford. We see a con-man in action. If you consider the progression of the entire series, one could say that Rockford is not a con-man, he is someone who, through 5 years in San Quentin and 5 years of Private Investigation as a profession, has learned the tricks of the con-man's trade, and is able to help. I thought the pacing of the episode, casting, writing, and direction were flawless.
Flypaper (2011)
Great Soundtrack
The soundtrack for this film, constructed by John Swihart is genius! Fits the film perfectly. For me it was the best part of the production. Looking at his work, the most famous film he has tracked is Napolean Dynamite. I hope to hear more from this great composer. Check out this mans work! Fine performances from the cast. Octavia Spencer is used simply for comic relief which she does well here. The balance of the cast also do well. Some of the dialog on this film gets a bit dry and even stale at times. The pair of rednecks were intended for comic relief, but the way they played the roles became very tiresome and easily predictable. They could have used catharsis to great effect and made the story line much better. One of the things the entire cast did well was increase the pace of the action consistently-all the way to the climax, which can be attributed to great direction as well. Its definitely worth the watch.
Be My Baby (2007)
lower budget, but well done
Cute cast, cute film, and well done especially considering the low budget. Rene Ashton-beautiful, the camera loves her. Makes me want to see what else she has done. The packaging makes one think that Lacey Chabert (Party of Five)is the star, but she has a supporting role in this. The writing could (maybe should) have been streamlined a bit and possibly a couple of scenes removed, and others added. Charming "make believe" type comedy. The good looking cast really make this film. You get the feeling that they had a blast making this. Kudos to Julia Duffy, expert Comedienne. There are several scenes that are actually hilarious...the action happens and the actors leave it up to the viewer to get the sly humor. They were humorous to me. . .I would watch this again. If you can get over the few shortcomings, it is an enjoyable romp.

Must see for Parker Posey and Tori Spelling Fans!
To the folks that think Ms Spelling did not turn in a good performance-I disagree. I was pleased with the drama she showed. She was still a young actress and has of course improved with age, but she was lithe and active and in this film I noticed she has the most perfectly formed hands and forearms of any actress on film. Not sure why I noticed this but if you watch again, look for this. She should use this feature to full effect. She also has a bit of a striking profile and eyes, similar to some other famous actors on stage. She could use her eyes to show more emotion. She showed her range to more effect when she was showing concern for the other characters. Parker Posey, of course, was in her full glory in this performance. She showed great skill with the acting process. If you listen to the film without watching the action, you see that she uses her voice to great effect. She truly stole this show. Ms Bujold of course exhibits great range of craft, so great to see her always. To top off the show, there is a cameo by a young Rachael Lee Cook. Fine performances by the men. Overall unique experience!
