Image Source: Walt Disney Rogue One: A Star Wars Story stands as one of the top five highest-rated films on Rotten Tomatoes, thanks to an ensemble cast including Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, and the Academy Award-nominated Felicity Jones—not forgetting Gareth Edwards’ visionary direction and its captivating plotline that expands the Star Wars universe. Even with such an incredible team and beloved franchise as Star Wars, creating a brand-new Star Wars film—particularly one like Rogue One—is no easy task. The pressure to live up to the legacy of this saga can be immense; at the time of release, Felicity Jones vividly remembered feeling overwhelmed on that unforgettable first day of filming. [Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for Season 1 of “The Acolyte.”]
“The Acolyte” creator and director Leslye Headland loves a binge watch. The accessibility and volume of television out there in the streaming galaxy is such that not only is it possible to wait for a handful of episodes, but honestly seems preferable to her. You’ve got to sort out if a show will appeal to you, if you’re watching it with friends or a partner, and if so, are you doing that together or asynchronously? It’s a much easier call to make with three or four episodes at a time than just a pilot, invariably an exercise in worldbuilding.
“The last thing I think I really enjoyed watching weekly was ‘Breaking Bad,’ which I know is like a decade ago now,” Headland told IndieWire on the Filmmaker Toolkit podcast. “Or ‘Lost’ or like ‘The Sopranos.’ But those were constructed by these guys who knew that old model backwards and forwards,...

The potential season 2 renewal of The Acolyte is starting to look unlikely now as the series is getting underwhelming viewership.
As we are heading to the first season finale this week, fans have been wondering whether the High Republic-set Star Wars series will officially get renewed for a second season.
While the series is getting positive reviews from critics, it has faced backlash from some fans as it is labeled as being "woke" for its diverse characters and become the subject of a review bombing campaign.

Star Wars Outlaws is set to be released by the end of August, and the gaming community is excited to see this new original project take place during the height of the Galactic Civil War. The developers have specific goals for this project: to feel authentic and honor the original trilogy.
It is interesting to see creatives take a gamble by setting up a new project during the most intense moments in the franchise and introducing a new character for players to know and explore the galaxy. This opportunity comes rarely, and Ubisoft has no plans to fumble now.

Star Wars Outlaws is an upcoming original project developed by Ubisoft. The gaming community is eager to see what the team could do with the source material and establish an original story set during one of the most intense and best eras during the Galactic Civil War.
The original trilogy introduced the Star Wars franchise to the world of pop culture that influenced everything that came after it, and the game developers seem to hope to use this hype and nostalgia for an interactive experience.

Besides his appearances as Nick Fury in the MCU and frequent collaborations with Quentin Tarantino, Samuel L. Jackson is also popular for getting some of the most bizarre on-screen deaths. From being blown in Django Unchained to being stabbed by a weaponized leg in Kingsman 2, and turning to dust in Avengers: Infinity War, Jackson has openly stated that he loves to die in his films.
However, when Samuel L. Jackson appeared in a minor role in Jurassic Park, his wish to get another memorable on-screen death went unfulfilled due to a unique reason, a hurricane.

Andor is arguably the best Star Wars show produced under Disney, and the lion’s share for its success goes to creator Tony Gilroy. The series follows the story of Cassian Andor as he goes through several experiences that lead him to become a major part of the Rebellion.

The Sound of Metal star plays a character based on writer and director Yann Demange, who travels to Paris to reconnect with his Arab roots
Sometimes the smallest projects are the most interesting. That may well be the case for Riz Ahmed’s newest film: a 16-minute short called Dammi, directed by Yann Demange, of Top Boy and ’71 renown, which is receiving an unusually high-profile release on the streaming platform Mubi.
Partly it is because Ahmed is now a bona fide Hollywood figure after films such as Sound of Metal, Nimona and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – having cut his teeth in indie British cinema, with credits including Shifty, Four Lions and Trishna. But Ahmed is also something of a overachiever with short films; along with director Aneil Karia, he won an Oscar for The Long Goodbye, a hard-hitting short about a British Asian family brutalised by neo-Nazi paramilitaries,...

As Scarlett Johansson begins filming the latest installment of Universal’s enduring dino-centric action-adventure, she received a warm welcome to Jurassic World from franchise veteran Jeff Goldblum.
Johansson, who recently outed herself as a “huge nerd” for all things Jurassic Park and Jurassic World appeared on NBC’s Today on Tuesday morning to promote her new romantic comedy, Fly Me to the Moon. As the interview with host Savannah Guthrie concluded, the Avengers star was informed that “somebody wanted to welcome you aboard to the team.”
Johansson appeared slightly perplexed but that quickly turned to a delightful smile when a video of Goldblum was played on air.
“Dr Johansson, this is Jeff Goldblum,” the veteran actor, donning his trademark glasses and a dinosaur sweater, says to the camera. “Here’s what I want to say to you. This I know: Scarlett will find a way. Don’t get eaten, unless you want to.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is No Longer Part of Disney’s Top 10 All-Time US Box Office List - Main Image
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has been pushed out of an exclusive Disney box office list five years after its theatrical release.
The last installment in the sequel trilogy notably had a divisive reception among both the critics and fans. Despite that, it was still a box office success as it reached the billion-dollar mark and became one of the highest-grossing Disney films of all time in the US.
Disney's box office list remained untouched for the last five years as the studio struggled in the post-covid-19 era. Now, it has changed thanks to a new juggernaut that is currently ruling the theatrical space.

George Lucas changed the world when he wrote and directed the 1977 space opera Star Wars. The film became a global phenomenon due to its groundbreaking special effects and sound. It inspired multiple generations of filmmakers and has given birth to a multi-billion franchise that still produces various TV, film, and print media.
However, Lucas’ reputation as the creator who changed pop culture went sour when he directed the prequel trilogy. The film focused on Anakin Skywalker’s journey to the dark side and his transformation into Darth Vader was extremely polarizing for ardent fans. However, his fans would have hated his idea for the sequels even more.

Rogue One stands out from the rest of the entries in the Star Wars franchise, as it steers the story away from the conflict between the Jedi and Sith. It follows the story of Jyn Erso, a member of the Rebel Alliance, who is part of a group that steals the plans for the Death Star.

Some of the best "Star Wars" stories are those that give us a break from those drama queens known as the Jedi and shift their focus to how the other side lives in a galaxy far, far way. In a setting populated by space wizards, witches, and mystical entities, there's something instantly relatable about common folk who know nothing of the Force and are, to borrow a turn of phrase from Jango Fett, simple men and women trying to make their way in the universe. It's similar to why everyone loves hobbits in "The Lord of the Rings."
While "Andor" has realized the full potential of this approach, it was its predecessor, 2016's "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," that paved the way and has, in return, taken on deeper dimensions thanks to its prequel series. The film's protagonist, Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), has no ties to the Jedi; she's...

Gareth Edwards' 2016 nostalgia-fest "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" seems to have been made to address what some people call a plot hole in George Lucas' 1977 film "Star Wars." In Lucas' film, the young Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) pilots a light attack craft up to a miniature hole in the exterior of the moon-sized Death Star, drops a bomb in it, and causes the entire superstructure to blow up. It is a satisfying ending to an exhilarating sci-fi pulp adventure.
Starwoids, however, watched Lucas films enough times that they began to ask questions. Why, the query went, would the deathly efficient Empire build a moon-sized planet-killing machine with such a grievous design flaw? Why build something so large and overpowered if a single bomb from a light attack craft can destroy it entirely?
The makers of "Rogue One" took that criticism to heart, and backward-engineered a story to explain the flaw.

Tony Gilroy Reportedly Set to Expand Role in Star Wars Projects Amid Fan Discontent with Dave Filoni
The Star Wars fandom is currently grappling with a social divide. Recently, there has been a strong emphasis on female leads and representation in live-action projects. While some fans applaud this direction, others criticize it.
Critics cite various reasons for their discontent. While some fans exhibit genuine misogyny, many others feel that the representation of females and minorities appears forced and lacks authenticity. This perception leads to a sense that these elements are included merely for the sake of inclusion, detracting from the overall quality of the products.
The debut of ‘The Acolyte’ has deepened fans’ skepticism toward Dave Filoni. According to a writer involved, Filoni approved every aspect of the script, even potential canon-breaking elements. This raises questions about Tony Gilroy’s role in the future.

It’s not a secret that Star Wars fandom is facing sort of a social crisis. In recent times, much of the focus of the franchise has been put on female leads and representation within live-action projects. Some fans consider it to be a good thing, while some are criticizing that direction.
The reasons behind the criticism are numerous, some fans are genuinely misogynistic, but a vast majority feel that the female and minority representation feels forced and therefore falls flat and bland, being there just for the sake of being there, which makes the overall products all that worse.
The recent release of ‘The Acolyte’ further eroded the trust of fans in Dave Filoni, who according to one of the writers signed off on everything in the script, including the potential canon-breaking instances. So where does Tony Gilroy come on?

The Acolyte has brought a new low for the Star Wars universe as its audience ratings have been disastrous. With Natasha Romanov (aka Black Widow) one of the few Marvel characters without superpowers and also – in the current timeline – dead, it would take a miracle for Scarlett Johansson to return to the MCU. But there’s another effects-heavy four-quadrant franchise out there that says “welcome.”

“I am an enormous ‘Jurassic Park’ fan. It is one of the first movies I remember seeing in theaters. I remember it so vividly. It was life-changing and mind-blowing. I cannot express how excited I am,” she said in an interview with ComicBook.com.

One of the directors of Andor has revealed a few details about the upcoming season two, including a returning Ben Mendelsohn…
A prequel to 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Andor is set to conclude its own narrative in its second and final season, due to appear on Disney+ later this year or early next.
Writer and producer Tony Gilroy has previously confirmed that season two will lead directly into Rogue One’s events, which implies that we might see one or two characters from the movie make an appearance in the series.
It’s something director Alonso Ruizpalacios, who’s overseeing the last three episodes in season two’s 12-part run, has confirmed in an interview with The Playlist. In fact, it’s likely that the filmmaker may have given away more than he was meant to.

With Andor season 2 set to bring the story right up to the beginning of Rogue One, it stands to reason that we should see a few familiar characters from the movie, including Ben Mendelsohn as Imperial Director Orson Krennic.
As Krennic is one of the main architects of the Death Star, it would make sense for him to appear in Andor season 2, but Mendelsohn had previously suggested that he would not return for the series. “As for being contacted by Lucasfilm for a new project, I can tell you that no, I have not been approached for something like this,” the actor said earlier this year. After a couple of far-from-perfect sequels, the Jurassic franchise was rebooted with Jurassic World in 2015. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard were chosen to lead the series, with only one movie set in the newly minted "Jurassic World" theme park before it all came crashing down.
The trilogy, which also included Fallen Kingdom and Dominion, was a financial success for Universal Pictures, with all three instalments grossing over $1 billion each. However, Dominion's takings dropped significantly from its predecessors and reviews were not kind.
Now, the idea is to reboot the series again or at least continue it with a new cast which, so far, includes Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, and - if talks work out - Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali.

One thing that made the original Star Wars trilogy such a cultural phenomenon was beyond all its groundbreaking visuals, the story had heart. Similar was the case for the prequels and irrespective of one’s stance on them, most can agree that its characters and story felt deeply personal as it was driven by Lucas’ passion for the acclaimed franchise.
But under Disney, things have been less than thrilling, and even though fans have been urging for the return of the good old days, it seems unlikely, at least under Disney’s current formula.
