Colin Trevorrow would have dabbled in yet another classic franchise after Jurassic World if things went as planned. The filmmaker was hired to direct the final part of the Star Wars sequel trilogy and had even written a script along with frequent collaborator Derek Connolly. However, after creative differences, Trevorrow left the project, and J.J. Abrams took over.
While Trevorrow has not commented much on the abandoned film, his script Star Wars: Duel of Fates was leaked and many fans considered it to be an upgrade from Abrams’ The Rise of Skywalker. However, one line from the script seems to have angered fans as it dismisses the lore of the Jedi established by George Lucas.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is progressing steadily, and with it, so are the characters. But it might be going a little overboard with one character’s power-ups, and it bears a striking resemblance to another character in a galaxy far, far away.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex | Viz Media
Spoiler Alert!Spoilers for Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 11.
Like father like daughter, you might say. Chapter 11 of the manga sees Himawari discover and use Kurama’s power as the new Nine-Tails jinchuriki. It’s quite a remarkable feat since she only just met Kurama and has the capability to use the ultimate technique of a tailed beast—a Bijuu bomb—while being fully awake and aware. But this isn’t matching Naruto’s capabilities by any means, this establishes her as a childhood prodigy, unlike her father.

Tony Gilroy won hearts with Andor, widely considered to be one of the strongest pieces of Star Wars media to be delivered ever, not just in the Disney era of the franchise. Given the success of the show with fans and critics alike, there is a new faction in the Star Wars fandom that believes Gilroy should receive more of a share in the Star Wars universe to play around in creatively.

Fans of Star Wars have been at odds with the direction of the IP for quite some time, championing creatives and producers that they hope can correct the course of the franchise. Ever since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ended the Rey and Kylo trilogy on a sour note because of its broken mystery box approach to storytelling, even the cast members have expressed frustration at the new trilogy’s botched momentum and blown opportunities. During a Daisy Ridley interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ridley mentioned that the answer to the mystery of Rey’s parentage was never set in stone. She explained how J.J. Abrams first suggested Rey was ‘Palpatine’s grandaddy,’ but this idea kept changing, leading to uncertainty even while filming. This showcases how Abrams’ approach impacted Ridley and the storyline...

Here's Why Kylo Ren's Theme Makes Sense in The Acolyte Episode 5 - Main Image
Ever since the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, it seemed as if Disney wanted to brush the Sequel Trilogy under the carpet, with new material constantly overlapping during the Prequel or Original Trilogy era.
Interestingly, however, the recent episode of The Acolyte, Night, brought back a familiar and poignant motif from the Sequels—specifically one connected to Kylo Ren.
Is That Kylo Ren’s Theme in The Acolyte?
The Acolyte episode 5, titled Night, mostly consists of Qimir a.k.a. Darth Teeth taking out Sol’s entire squad of Jedi, but by the end of the episode he finds an injured Osha and decides to heal her wounds using the Force. Interestingly, while he does this, Kylo Ren’s theme plays for a few seconds, and this completely threw fans off.

Disney had a pretty rough year at the box office in 2023, suffering huge flops with films like "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" and "The Marvels." But things are looking up as we enter the second half of 2024, as "Inside Out 2" has already become the highest-grossing movie of the year, dethroning "Dune: Part Two" to take the crown in a mere nine days. In the process, it has managed to accomplish something that no movie has accomplished since 2019 when "Avengers: Endgame" hit theaters en route to becoming (for a time) the biggest movie in history.
Director Kelsey Mann's "Inside Out 2" cleared $101 million domestically in its second weekend, dropping just 35% after its record-breaking opening. It is now just the seventh movie in history to make at least $100 million on its second weekend in theaters. The last time that happened? When "Endgame" pulled in an astonishing $114.7 million on...

Pixar’s Inside Out 2 continues to sizzle at the box office, where it earned a record $30 million Wednesday. It is also the highest gross for Juneteenth since the date became recognized as a federal holiday in 2021.
Excluding movies opening midweek, the film scored the biggest Wednesday gross of all time for an animated movie, and — just as impressive — the third-biggest of any film only behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($38 million) and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ($32.2 milllion).
And when including movies opening on a Wednesday, Inside Out 2 rests at No. 12 on the list of top Wednesday earners, not adjusted for inflation.
The animated tentpole has now earned $235.4 million domestically and a huge $203.3 million overseas for a global total of $438.7 million through Wednesday.

Faith was quickly lost in Kathleen Kennedy’s capabilities soon after the release of Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker. While fans became somewhat skeptical after the movie, the projects that were released afterward in the franchise did not help this concern. Audiences have noticed a significant decline in the franchise’s quality, and nothing showcases it more than the character of Rey Skywalker.

Actors often have the difficult task of meeting each other on the same day that their characters are supposed to convey a sense of history between one another, so that’s precisely what makes the story of Ahsoka’s Rosario Dawson and Hayden Christensen all the more special.
In the summer of 1995, the two budding teenage actors attended drama school together at New York City’s Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, so Christensen was right there when Dawson’s career was established by way of Harmony Korine and Larry Clark’s provocative indie, Kids. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts ended with Anthony Ramos' Noah, having saved the day, attending a job interview for what he thought was a simple security gig.
The interviewer somehow knew he saved the world and, after thanking Noah for his service, revealed that it was time for him to step up and join his group. Why? Because they're in the middle of a war. With that, Michael Kelly's mysterious Agent Burk handed Noah a business card and moved a plaque on the wall to reveal his secret base.
Along with the movie's lead, we then learned that the card was emblazoned simply with, "G.I. Joe."

Derek Connolly, the franchise scribe whose work includes Jurassic World movies and Detective Pikachu, has a new sandbox in which to play.
Connolly has been tapped to pen the script for Paramount’s untitled Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover action project that is to star Chris Hemsworth.
The crossover feature will bring together two of Hasbro’s biggest toy lines, Transformers and G.I. Joe. It will pit the good guys — the robots in disguise Autobots and heroic Joes — against their archenemies, the dastardly Decepticons and conniving terrorist organization Cobra. While a team-up of the two toylines has happened in comic book form (the first in a Marvel Comics title in 1987), it has never occurred on screens, big or small.
The proposed film follows the events of last year’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which ended with Anthony Ramos’ character getting a job offer from the Joes.

It has been five years since the last big-screen Star Wars release hit the theatres, whose disappointment pushed Disney to revamp its approach towards the galaxy far, far away. Since then, the small screen has been the House of Mouse’s priority in terms of Star Wars projects, but after a prolonged wait, the IP is finally set to return to the big screen.
Daisy Ridley, who headlined the sequel trilogy, is also set to reprise her part of Rey Skywalker in one of the three Star Wars films, which were announced last year. However, according to the actor, her second run as Rey might be short-lived.

Warning: contains spoilers for Doctor Who episode “Rogue”.
Just three episodes ago in “Boom”, the Doctor was trapped where he stood while a countdown ticked off the seconds until his death. In “Rogue”, he found himself in the same situation, but this time with the addition of a Kylie soundtrack and some excellent flirting.
Fifteen got out of the “Boom” trap by deactivating a landmine. He got out of the “Rogue” trap by properly introducing himself, both to Jonathan Groff’s bounty hunter, and to any new viewers late to this party. Rogue had mistaken the Doctor for the shape-shifting alien Chuldur he was on 19th century Earth to track down, and was seconds away from pressing the ‘incinerate’ button when the Doctor activated Rogue’s ship scanner and explained:

Deadpool & Wolverine‘s Hugh Jackman is set to star in Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie and I was not prepared for the synopsis. Let’s get right to it.
Based on Leonie Swann’s international bestseller, the film follows George Hardy (Jackman), “a shepherd who loves his sheep and raises them only for their wool. Every night, he reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand, never suspecting that not only can they understand, but they argue for hours afterwards about whodunnit. When George is found dead under mysterious circumstances, the sheep realize at once that it was a murder and think they know everything about how to go about solving it. The local cop Tim Derry, on the other hand, has never solved a serious crime in his life, so the sheep conclude they will have to solve it themselves, even if it means...

The new Star Wars outing on Disney+ has the force on its side. Deadline is reporting that the new Jedi-centric show debuted with 4.8 million views on its first day. This makes The Acolyte Disney+’s biggest series premiere of the year. It is on track to overtake Ahsoka‘s performance of generating 14 million views in its first five days.
This bit of news comes as somewhat of a surprise since Disney+ doesn’t usually release streaming numbers after just the first day. The company announced Ahsoka‘s viewership after five days most likely due to the popularity of the character. Last December, the streamer announced numbers for Percy Jackson and the Olympians after its first six days. Other shows on the streamer don’t usually get their viewer numbers released unless they are rather good. Reporting the numbers for The Acolyte so soon after the premiere makes it seem like...

Actor John Boyega starred in three of the extant 16 "Star Wars" movies*, playing the rogue-Stormtrooper-turned-good guy Finn in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (2015), "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" (2017), and "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" (2019). Boyega liked playing Finn, but has gone on record (notably in a 2020 GQ interview) about his disappointment with how the series treated his character; Finn was set up to be a leading man, and was sidelined for what appeared to be racism-based reasons. Boyega was also off-put by Disney's habit of micromanaging "Star Wars," feeling that every one of the franchise's actors ran the risk of being roped into "Star Wars" projects exclusively. "You ain't going to Disney+ me," he once laughingly said to Variety.
There hasn't been a "Star Wars" movie since 2019, as Disney+ kind of killed their Goose that Laid the Golden Eggs. The theatrical market was oversaturated, audiences didn't respond terribly well...

Hollywood is a constantly evolving landscape where new titles regularly compete to outpace the other. In terms of having that power to spew out content, Disney stands as an undisputed front-runner with its several franchises and studios such as Marvel, Pixar, and Lucasfilm. However, the company also invests significantly in making independent productions, of which its latest outing stands in the form of Young Woman and the Sea starring Daisy Ridley.

Many generations have grown up loving the Star Wars film franchise, which is among the most adored of all time. It is a hit, and so is its cast, which included the unforgettable late Carrie Fisher. While fans continue to mourn her death, a recent touching revelation from her friend James Blunt reflected on the pressures she faced in the industry, particularly those demanding she maintain a youthful, slender figure.

British singer James Blunt said that his friend Carrie Fisher’s death in 2016 came as she was “mistreating her body” to reprise her iconic role as Princess Leia and allegedly receiving pressure about her weight for her Star Wars return.
Blunt was at the Hay Festival in Hay-on-Wye, Wales over the weekend discussing his memoir, Loosely Based on a Made-Up Story, when he began to discuss Fisher, a close friend who he’d at one point lived with while writing his smash-hit debut album, 2004’s Back to Bedlam. The singer told the crowd about seeing Fisher the day before her death; she was found unresponsive on a plane, having had a heart attack and died days later on Dec. 27, 2016.

Musician James Blunt recently said at the Hay Festival in Wales (via People) that his close friend Carrie Fisher faced tremendous pressure to be thin for “Star Wars” when she reprised her iconic role of Princess Leia in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Fisher previously told Good Housekeeping U.K. in 2015 shortly before “The Force Awakens” opened in theaters that she lost 35 pounds for the movie. She died one year later in December 2016 after going into cardiac arrest while flying from London to Los Angeles.
“She’d been really mistreating her body, and she’d just got the job again of being Princess Leia in a new ‘Star Wars’ movie,” said Blunt at the arts festival, where he was speaking about his memoir, “Loosely Based on a Made-Up Story.”

Developed in the early ‘70s by George Lucas, Star Wars, as a franchise, has grown to juggernaut heights both in net worth and creative output. Ever since the release of the first film, it has continued to capture the imaginations of countless people across the globe and become more or less synonymous with everyday pop culture. Regardless of its juggernaut impact, it too, has not managed to get away from flaws and misses and landed criticisms, especially for its prequel trilogy.

The 70s class of filmmakers who re-shaped cinema with their culture-defining works are seemingly getting some recognition recently. After Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese’s stock is as high as ever. Steven Spielberg was recently announced to be revisiting a classic concept with him once again tackling a UFO film. Francis Ford Coppola is back in the spotlight with his ambitious passion project, Megalopolis. And George Lucas is getting honored at the Cannes Film Festival with a Palme d’Or for his contribution to cinema.

In a galaxy far, far away, the Skywalker name has always been synonymous with heroes, legends, and the ultimate battle between light and dark. With Rey Skywalker (Daisy Ridley) taking on the iconic family name at the end of J. J. Rey’s decision to become a Skywalker was not just a passing moment or a mere token of gratitude; it was a deeply personal and meaningful choice that honored the Jedi who had shaped her into the powerful Force-wielder she had become.

We haven't seen or heard from Rey (Daisy Ridley) since the final scene of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker when she took the name "Rey Skywalker," but new dialogue may give us some idea of what to expect when the character returns for Lucasfilm's upcoming Rey-focused movie.
The quotes come from the latest wave of kyber crystals released in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Disney World and Disneyland, and would appear to give us a glimpse into the mind of the powerful Force-wielder following the events of the sequel trilogy.

Sigourney Weaver is in talks to star in the upcoming Star Wars film, The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Word of Weaver’s involvement became public on Friday, first reported by The InSneider newsletter. Currently, her role and its scope are unknown, but given Weaver’s track record for starring in sci-fi hits, the casting feels appropriate.
The Mandalorian & Grogu was first announced this past January, and will see Pedro Pascal reprise the titular role that he originated with the 2019 Disney+ series The Mandalorian. N0w, making the jump to the big screen, the film will expand upon the show’s universe (which also spurred the spinoff series Ahsoka).
Jon Favreau, creator of The Mandalorian, will return to direct the film, which also marks the first feature-length Star Wars release since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni will produce, as will Favreau.
